Match/Practice recording
With the addition of SnakeStyles to our team, we are going to need to get as much data as possible for him to analyse from both practices and matches.
The initial sources of data that come to mind are recordings from the mumble server, and recording of game footage from as many points of view as possible.
I'm not sure how we can go about recording the Mumble channel? Is that something that can be done on the server, or do we do it from the client side?
As to recording video, we need volunteers every match /prac to record the game, and upload compressed footage for analysis. Ideally volunteers should be able to record footage without any impact on their in-game performance, so the task should fall to those with beefy enough PC's, and of course sufficient internet data/bandwidth to upload the resultant videos. It makes sense to get recordings from as many players as possible over time, so that different play styles can be analysed, and commented on.
Following a discussion on SGS, it seems that the best program for recording in-game is MSI Afterburner. It appears to have a significantly lower performance overhead than FRAPS, and it's also free to download. I suggest that everyone download themselves a copy, and see if running with it in game is feasible on their PC.
As I've never made a vid of my own before, I'm not sure what tools would then be used to compress the footage after it's been recorded? Anyone able to provide input on this?
I guess we'll also need a site for uploading footage on to that we can control access to (I assume that we don't want other clans analysing our footage for their own benefit). Any suggestions on this?

Fraps works well for me - setting it to half-size 60fps recording and there's no discernable impact

Re: Match/Practice recording
Try this http://mcebuddy.com/
It will convert to whatever format and you can schedule it to do it when ever.
Should be able to convert down to about 100mb per round, then u can upload to youtube. Make a private channel.

Ok, last night matches. Only remembered to record the rounds on Bazaar.
Round 1 http://youtu.be/MK2N5dEQKyg
Round 2 http://youtu.be/m2v5N_xraSU
No audio. Not prepared to use the beta version of msi afterburner which has audio support, cos I use msi afterburner to overclock my gpu's.

Re: Match/Practice recording
oK just watched those two.
First thing i noticed. Our tank crews need a lot of work. Need to drill to get the repairing and staying alive right.
Leppy you need to be still when your guys are out, and you need to be more conservative about where you move too.

Re: Match/Practice recording
Sorry for dropping you guys last night. Seems like we are having major elec problems. Half our complex goes out at a time. Yes that is right Half.
