CoD4 woes

Post by NiteShade »

Hello everyone,

I'd like to voice my concerns regarding [grrr]'s future in CoD. It seems we are going to have the same problem we did with WAW - lack of players.

I found out over the weekend that Lep will no longer be able to Merc for us. He's been invited by another clan to compete in Trackmania and in CoD4. That clan is signed up with the MSSA... who's rules state that he is unable to play for another clan in any other game.

This leaves us with the following people that showed interest in CoD:
Dragonne
Daz
Jackal
Ozzy
Ice
Toppie
Shadey

We both know that Drag and Daz travel a lot for work and might not always be available to practice/join a clan game.
RL happens to all of us and we can't be guaranteed that Jackal, Oz and myself will always be available all of the time.
Toppie, I haven't seen around lately and haven't been able to ask him about his intentions.
Icey, I know has been traveling lately and hasn't been available to prac.

So... I need everyone's advice. Where do we go from here?

Not again :slap: .... OK , i've phoned toppie and asked him if he's interrested in COD4 merc for us , He said that he realy wants to , but he cannot make any commitments , as his wife doesn't always understand his gaming needs , and He's sometimes not available due to work responsabilities.

We can recruit , I will make this my responsability is Shady allows it... We are having our monthly Lan soon , and Shady/Lep has said that they want to come and join us.. Then i'll show u some of the possile candidates to merc for us..

I cannot go let COD die this time round , as it will cause me to be a forum member again , keeping the shoutbox going and posting stupid things

I dont know if im stepping outa line here , but as a clan member i feel that i have a responability to compete in some form of game, to make a commitment even if RL sometimes causes a delay in that commitment.

Shady , can i help u get a team together , and see if we can get a commitment going?

@Greg, you'd be a welcome addition to a CoD team... if we get one going that is.

@Jean, I understand your wanting to compete in a game.. that's the whole point in being in a gaming clan, right?
We'll talk at the LAN more about it.

In the meantime, practices are canceled until further notice. I look forward to hearing from the rest of the members in regards to their thoughts in how to proceed.

I know I am not participating in COD but Shadey you have to be strict and lay down the law, you must insist on having commitment and enough players or don't do it at all.

Otherwise it will just make you disheartened and that will achieve nothing. My 2c

Good discussion Shadey... and i think that Greg is correct, we need to lay down some rules. So if people are unable to make a practice they log onto the forum and let the team know (i am very guilty of this so its time to make some changes). I won't be travelling for a few weeks and would like to continue those practice sessions - they have made a huge difference in my gaming life.

I hang out a lot on the PROMOD server and even though i have had the odd - "WTF you stupid idiot - why did you run into my bullets" - and the best one in response to me performing the most spectacular team kill ever "get off this server and play with the babies on hardcore - dumbass" - still i think they are slowly warming up to me  .

Thanks for the msg Shady, I will be adding more servers this evening and hope on for some gaming. I know I have not been available as of late and I can only commit to one practice a week. If this means I play as reserve then that's the call.

I believe we do have the chance to cement [grrr] into the CoD realm. Even if its till MW2 breaks. Its important that we try build a core team. I believe we would have to look at recruiting new members into the fold when it comes to CoD so I would have to agree with oZzy we may have to consider bring in a player or two.

But we can only do that by getting known in the community.

We just currently cannot sustain enough active players it seems there is interest but due to lifestyle restraints it does hinder the process some what.

I totally agree with you, Paul. That's why I started this thread. It doesn't help for me to lay down the law and be strict to people that don't really want to play anyhow.

Also, Icey is right... we won't be able to recruit CoD players if our clan name isn't even recognized. Additionally, I don't just want to recruit random players into grrr. I like how our application process works now. We're a unique group of like-minded people and I'd like to keep it that way. So to me its rather odd to head-hunt an oke and say "Hey, you're a great player, would you like to join [grrr]? If so, please submit an application and we'll see if you are voted in."

If I'm going to run with CoD, I need the following:
A group of 5 members that will commit to the game, a couple of reserves in case of absences. We can reduce it to one practice night a week... how does Tuesdays sound? Ideally, I'd like 10 CoD players so we could have decent clannies grrr vs grrr to test strats/techniques.
I'm ready to commit 100% and expect other members to do so as well. Maybe it's just my personality type, but I'm not one to go into something half-assed - especially if we are going to be competing. Therefore, if I don't see the dedication of other members, I'd rather can the whole thing.
