Grand Bazaar / Seine Crossing (SiB)

Post by Hubris »

Baggers v SiB (Strength in Brotherhood) at 8PM on the T-bags-Rus server. Please try to be on around 7.

On both maps mines will be very valuable, please help Mr Dry get them down if you happen to be in the area. Stick close to your buddy, be loud about what you're doing and let's get those revives in like champions! Remember, don't push to cap after the start move unless you know you have troop or tank support incoming.

If it all goes to hell, let's regroup around our APC/tank and cap flags together. When we move onto the next flag, let's leave the defence squad to do their thing and start it up again. Often failing to go forward is because we get caught off guard or out gunned, so let's rectify that with careful, overwhelming and concentrated force.

Vanguard: Phatso* (Assault- Amm/Sprint), Tyger (Tube Assault - Frag), DryMan (Mine Engineer - Explosive),
Defence: SlipperyDuck* (Assault - Flak), J0nny (Recon Suppress) and Cronos (Clay Support - Suppress) - J0nny on Bazaar, Cronos on Seine
APC/Tank: Hubris* (Assault - Flak), Paul (Spanner - Cover), Pmurgs (Spanner - Explosive)

Reserves: NoMaD

Grand Bazaar: On the start, defence squad will head to our back flag to cap. Lee will move the transport up to a view into B and fire the 50 cal down there while Cronos lays clays and pressures B from alleys and a safe distance. The vanguard will load into the APC and head along the upper highway to cap and hold the enemy back flag.

DryMan will always head to the back road to place mines, hunt the enemy APC and catch up with his squad later. Off the start, we have to protect ourselves with mines and rockets in case their APC charges into our back flag. Thereafter, he will go to their back flag and help blow the APC up before it can leave spawn.

Our APC will operate on the upper highway and will respond to enemy armour and any capping of our flags. If B is proving to be a problem, the vanguard will attack it from behind with the support of the defence squad from the front. Defence will always defend the back flag.

Seine Crossing: On the start, the defence squad will cap the back flag, while the vanguard pushes to the second back flag for a cap. The tank will push all the way through on the main road in an attempt to flank enemy armour and troops in the built up area around the bushy stairs.

Once holding two flags, the defence will clays on our back flag and fortify the flag vanguard capped (buzz between back flags). The vanguard will harass the enemy's second back flag with the tank in support (or pressuring their far back flag if defence found a weak spot) to get from 2/4 to 3/4.

Once we hold 3/4, the defence squad will move up to support the tank in holding the enemy off at one flag while the vanguard cut off any route to escape (including any runners/back cappers). Try not to bunch up with another squad, the idea is to fan out in pairs/threes, find the enemy, hold them off and attack when there are weak spots.

BATTLE REPORT: GRRR BAGGERS VS SiB (STRENGTH IN BROTHERHOOD)

Our first real win in the run up to the DGL, nice boys. Lets keep on building, we have some serious firepower to distribute. Some excellent rounds from our vanguard squad, we just seemed to lose too many tickets in the defence and tank squads. Otherwise good rounds from all, thanks for making the match happen guys. Won 243:149 (94 up). Despite having left practice to last minute again, we did well and gave the noobs a beating, but we left with a bloody nose.

Grand Bazaar: We started on the US side and had limited success with the strategy to hold both the outer flags. It worked at first, but whenever our APC went down that was null and void. Forced to adapt, we scrambled to mount an assault on B. Against all odds, we pulled back 100 tickets taking B and holding for the bleed with only 50 tickets. It was tight and real guts were shown. Probably the best way to play this map, take the outside flags all out, then take B for the bleed out while they recover.

The RU side didn't go well at all, we came out with the same strategy to hit B and they mauled us. Unfortunately we misread them and were short an engineer on the APC, theirs got the upper hand and we just couldn't seem to get a footing. Eventually loosing all our flags and only managing to cap back A at the end. We were disorganized and just couldn't seem to decide where to go, loosing horribly. We were definitely mismatched in terms of strategy throughout this side of Bazaar.

Seine Crossing: RU side, trying something new off the start, a mortar, we lost our tank in the initial engagement to an engineer above us. The mortar didn't seem to help much and we were critically short of Cronos' gun at the front line. We adapted well to the initial fail and held 2/4 for a good while. Eventually we mustered our forces, killed their tank and drove ourselves into the win. We bled a lot of tickets though and it was touch and go for a while there.

From the US side, we just dominated. We held our positions well, waited for opportune moments and really stuffed them up in every respect. They got more and more desperate, fielding many more engineers and suciding C4ing our tank. We just kept destroying their tank with our combined fire and they had nothing for a good half of the round. They rallied at the end and we almost lost our focus, but we managed to clean them up neatly shortly after.

No fun and games photos tonight, these COD boys gave us a run and had some good skill despite losing. Luckily, years of BF experience managed to keep Grrr in the lead and ultimately won the match for us. A good match, these guys can play and we should look forward to whooping them again soon.
