Practise : 23 November 2011 at 19:50

Post by Skouperd »

This will be our first practise session, so it will be great if everybody could be online by 19:50 please. The following are the things that I would like us to tick off tonight:

1. What the strategy is for the three maps:
a. Cronos and myself did walk through the maps on Monday, now we need to share that with yourself.

2. Need to name certain areas on the map:
a. This need to be as generic as possible, and ideally we need to have the same names for all the different maps
b. Also, we need to keep the names short, and easy, so that even when we play on public servers, we still call it what we call it in clannies, and even the baggers should know exactly what we are referring to.

3. How do we spot / point towards enemies
a. We need to define a way for us to say that somebody is coming in at the left entrance
b. I don’t have much of a problem with Left, right, Front, Back as long as we can define what the point of reference is.
i. Point of reference for me is normally the general direction in which the squad is moving from one point to the next. (back refers to where the squad just came from, forward means where the squad is going to, and left and right is as if you are looking in the direction that the squad is moving to.
ii. If the squad is stationary and protecting say a building, then the front is the actual front of the building, left is as if you are looking from the front of the building to the back of the building
c. Any event, I am easy to agree on another way to call them, but we need to agree with a similar call sign and even use that internally on the public servers

4. Agree what we may, should, and should not, say over team speak.

5. Confirm attendance for Sunday’s match.

Then, if we have time left, we could perhaps have a fight over one or two of the flags, let the one squad defend the flag, while the other one tries to take it.

See you all tonight at 19:50

Skoups I just saw this now, it is 5 boards down the hierarchy. In the "Matches" board? Its a prac. Not making sense, not being clear.
PS Agree with J0nny wrt to pracs with only 1 of grrr's teams, ie we should be praccing together.
Anyhoo. Will try to be there tonight.

After squadding up on public servers I would like to ask everyone to be mindful of squadding basics. If you are in front you scan in front. If you spawn at the back, follow and check the rear so we are not outflanked.
I noticed people in my squad spawning behind me then overtaking me and running directly in my line of fire. These are basics. If you move down a tunnel/passage dont all move in single file. The lead should pick the left/right wall and move down it. Next in line picks the opposite wall and moves down that so you are not shooting into each others backs and you both have line of sight down the corridor. We were bunched up at times (nade bait) and all over the map at times. I personally rate optimal distance between squad members as ~5-10m. If we do split up then we should have 2 groups of 2 and communicate that. Preferably with a medic in each pair.

If you disagree with those ^ comments I'd like to hear why, regardless, lets work on our movement.

Mega I think you are spot on with your suggestion on squad movements. Also guys, please share any thoughts you have on how you think we can improve the Nutz overall skill level. Some of the Nutz have ranked thousands of hours with BF2, and BC2, so please share those insights please.

I agree with you, Geth.

I must apologise for my performance last night. Not feeling very well and it definitely showed in my gameplay.

I think we are all very rusty. Last night I engaged 3 infantry instead of maintaining stealth and capping a flag. I dropped 2 of them and was then dropped. No flags gained so a total waste. The +1 ticket I gained was lost 5s later from ticket bleed. Bottom line=Flags>Frags.

PS The best infantry squad player in this clan is Lee, I'd recommend squadding with him and watching/learning. I am still trying to learn his tricks.

Yes, it goes back to that instruction you once gave of getting on a flag to cap it before engaging the enemy! (where possible of course)
