I’m going to do this in no particular order, just ramble through, much like you’ve come to expect from me.
1st to Paul, having really taken the BF2 leadership seriously, didn’t know you had it in you, but you did an EPIC job at it this year, in some acutely arduous circumstances, you managed to get this team of misfits to raise their game and follow through, delivering a formidable finish to the Agasa league for the year. Take that one as yours mate, you earned it. You are the soul of this clan dude, even though you make ghost feel unwashed.
To Shady, for being ever present, ever involved and ever committed to grrr, helping guide another set of oddballs to an eventual turnaround in Call of Duty (WAW), which sadly came to an end due to lack of community(no, not just grrr) interest in the form that we competed in and ejection of competitive CODWAW from AGASA which came immediately after. A special thanks Must go to LEP for taking time out of his busy BF2 calendar and Merc’n for grrr, epic effort, really emphasize the grrr ethos, making him one of our best grrr-in-laws.
To Jarrod, for sticking up yer hand this year and saying “Hey Mother beechez, I ARE SPARTA!!!!!!!” and becoming an admin, a welcome addition, bringing sense and sensibility to the otherwise “WTF, I chooned you o’z that we should lark just park off”. You proved your worth, illustrating that even the incompetent can achieve the impossible and become the leader amongst living Leg-ends like Jonny and I.
To some of you who have made this an especially awesome year, Jarrod, Odette, Jonno, Jules, Mike, Sherry and Dirk L4D, TQIT and TF2.
Some of the most fun I’ve had online ever have been as a result of the afore mentioned online sessions. This was exactly my vision for GRRR in the long run, a community of gamers, bonded by blood on the battlefield, experiencing other games together for the ENJOYMENT of it, since we are all gamers after all.
Special thanks do go out to Ion, Fluffs, though you’ve been without DSL for a good portion of the year, you’ve been committed, you took your role very seriously and did your best, when you faced not having DSL for a long time, you pressed all the right buttons, spoke to all the right people and did everything the right way. Model GRRRbian behaviour right there, showing that, even though he had no way of physically contributing, he was still committed to the clan, logging on, contributing thoughts and ideas to the melting pot of madness that is our forums. Damn it’s so easy to be a grrrbian.
To Ozzy, dude your patience and commitment have been stuff of Leg-end. Here’s a guy who joined for COD, enjoyed a month or two of competing and then had the floor literally pulled from under him when the WAW series was withdrawn from AGASA.
Yet he stayed on, logging in daily, slapped Paul around and showed everyone what it really means to be a grrrbian. Here he still is, part of this awesome family.
To Jules, one of the few who left our grrreat clan only to become what I could only describe as a grrrster(yep, he’s in a category all of his own); he’s still grrr, he just hasn’t realised that the closet isn’t locked yet.
To Odette, for being just about everyone here’s best friend. You truly have become the heart of grrr, at the very least you’ve stolen all of our hearts and hope you truly understand how much you mean to each and every member of this Clan. I couldn’t have asked for a better addition to this absolutely stellar family.
To Jonno, dude, I’m gonna kill you for the stoned speechez tradition. I took 2 days of observing and planning an epic fairytale-like story of “grrr over this last year” whilst @ r4ge, watching everyone interact and coming up with some silly way to put them in my obscure story. In 30 seconds – I was speechless – literally, but I do take solace in the fact that I will not be the only one. But dude, much respect, becoming one of those people I look most forward to seeing online every day, which I suspect is the way most people feel, not just in this clan, but from many others.
You are a beacon of the Grrrhood way.
To Mr Mega, dood, the core of grrr itself. For spreading the GRRR gospel to countries which have absolutely no need for it, like Pakistan and Chad. We’d hate to admit it, but it is true, MrMagicalMega is the beloved missing son, but, like the prodigal, one day he shall return. No matter where you have been in the world, you still care about this family and take the time to log in, see what is happening and having a say. Lead by example they say. . . .truer words have not since been spoken.
Jason, for having the patience to stick it out, I know it was tough for a while, that you have a demanding life and you still stuck it out whilst we were in a BF2 recession – so to speak. For coming though and delivering, being our armour hoe for the year, staying involved and YES for the awesomeness of the Sunglasses. (I really should appologies for not thanking you in the speeches – afore mentioned stonage to blame)
Jackal, or Lord Vader as you are now known. For being an embassador for grrr in the public CODWAW scene. Even after the downturn and disbandment of the CODWAW league, you continued to enjoy and play the game proudly with the GRRR tags. Also remaining a member of this grrreat family, getting involed and making the odd comment that raised an eyebrow or too.
Base, dood, base. I keel yew. Base has been one of those characters this year that keeps you guessing, for pure entertainment value, I give you a 10/10. You seriously live life on the edge, I have no idea why, but you love it. I guess that’s why you’re unique personality keeps us coming back for more, it’s like a love/hate relationship, but in a good way. Even though we’ve had some tough ones, it’s you’re love for this family that I’ve constantly and consistently seen, that still makes me proud to call you a grrrbian. Let me give you just one more “FFS Dude!!!!!”
Jonathan, phatso, mate. .. .You dude, are stuff of leg-end. Epic merc, MASSIVE personality, I don’t know where you come up with them, but dood, what an awesome guy to have representing the grrr way. If only you roots weren’t tied to that other clan who’s name must never be spoken, if only. Seriously I think you are grrr thru n thru.
Knighty, still living the grrr way. Bringing the rusties, having a grrreat time with your family. You still take the time almost every day to login, say howzit, illustrating just how easy it is to be a member. Getting involved where it counts, being part of the family and staying in touch. Even though you play WOW, we still love you
Hope you keep up the madness, stay with us, everyone is important in this family.
Fly, dude. If anyone could be a posterboy of what grrr is about, you’d be in the background washing the car of the guy who is in it. . .. Nah mate, seriously, for a BF2 clan, where a member was banned (albeit unfairly), you’ve managed to take the flak for it so well, let us rag you, stayed as one of the best members we’ve got. Always there, always contributing. You’re one of the most loved members of this clan, I can tell you without consulting anyone. To me, you feel like a brother from another mother.
Dazzy dude, the Awesomest guy. When I finally met you and saw that cheeky constant smile of yours, I thought – that is exactly right! You’re the kind of classic character that takes the wacky fun-loving grrr way to the next level. Just ooooozin grrrness. Very stoked to have you with us and hope it’s a family you live and love forever.
Voetsek, you sneaky bastard, somehow you’ve avoided r4ge AGAIN and we still love you, howd you do it son? How? One of grrr’s best ambassador’s for BF2 and yes we do have a few, but not many as committed as “Mikey”. The millions of “who’s coming to Ranked I” action every day comments and the continual “here have a bit of grrr” moments on the servers, make you one of or best BF2 ambassadors. Keep it up mate, we all think you’re an awesome guy and privileged to have you on our side. Man, I’d hate to be on the opposing team when you’ve got a C4 pack!
Cuch and Atplay, you guys have had a rough year, I know it. I still thing you two are awesome and definitely part of our family. I’ve been told we’ll be seeing more of you two soon, I really hope so, Cuch as our first female members, has always had a special place in my heart and I have such fond memories of server time with you, I really can’t wait to see more of you again this coming year and hope that everything finally works itself out for you. The two of you are very much still part of my family.
IcenFlem, my most epic ninja from the south. You’ve had a busy year too, you’ve still made the time to get involved where you could, even though you’ve taken on a huge RL responsibility, kudos mate. You’re another character that is absolutely cornerstone grrr to me personally, thanks for all your stuisms, they make my ramblings seem almost sane!
Grav, epic dude, even though you’ve been semi-MIA for the whole year, you pitched at r4ge this year and showed everyone just what grrr is all about, picked up from where we left off and made the event absolutely awesome. You’re absolutely clinical mad skills which brought grrr to it’s pinnacle in the previous years league were much needed, admittedly I was miffed about not seeing enough of you this year, but, as usual from the very second I saw you on Thursday night pre-r4ge, all was instantly forgiven and forgotten, since, you are ALL GRRR, very much part of this family and hellz bellz, we still love you.
Damn, feel like I’ve missed someone, so please don’t feel offended if I have, that’s just me as usual, forgetting something real important, my legacy – if you will.
Finally to the clan as a whole. It was a particularly difficult year, I had moments of self doubt, as the clan had a major downturn this year; but you gave me strength and support, for that I am truly thankful. My reign of terror is over, but now I join the elite club of the founding members. Never before has a Leader had so much pressure support, so I wish Jarrod all the best. You’re going to be an amazing leader, it’s in your genes. This will be a truly interesting year, a tough one, but I believe and really successful one with you at it’s helm. To all our members, I truly do love and respect all of you, new and old members alike. You are what inspire me, every day of my life and are more than just some entertainment on the side. The level of commitment from some of you guys and the sheer enjoyment of your company, will keep me coming back forever, I am truly forever your’s
“I AM GRRR!!!!!!!one!!!11!!!”
Lastly, aren’t you glad I WAS stoned for the speeches, would you have seriously sat through ALL of the above, without falling asleep, I mean sheesh dude, that’s like 4 pages of crap!
