rAge - Are we gaming?

Simple question, really. Are we actually goingt o be playing games at rAge this year, or is it purely and simply a social.

I kinda need to establish this ASAP, due to the additional effort required for the Capetonian contingent to get their gear up to JHB.

As there are a few of us going up this year (j0nny, Geth, Christo, Denis, Myself - not including Daz here because I feel he won't be able to join us), we would need at least one decent sized car to get everyone's gaming rigs up there for the event. Denis would be the usual port of call, and he is infact driving up and taking a trailer this year, however he's not going to be coming back to CPT for at least a week after rAge finishes i.e. whoever makes use of his courier services will be without a PC for a while after they get back.

So, the options available to me are as follows:

1. If there are enough intersted parties, I will offer up my car to be driven to Jozi. We should be able to fit three people in the car, plus four PC's (with a bit of a squeeze). However, this option requires me to take an additional two days off to get there and back, and will cost (assuming that the car is full and everyone contributes towards petrol) pretty much the same as flying up
2. Pack up my laptop (along with a couple of external HDD's for leeching) and fly up to Jozi. I won't be able to game at all, but I'd still be able to leech as much as I wanted to.

So, the question to everyone that's not from JHB - do you intend gaming at rAge, or not i.e. are you taking your PC up?

I know this question is directed at the Jozi guys but I definitely want to game, I know rAge is a major social but getting in a few games out be cool.

Like what Paul said, I know this is not aimed at me, but I am a "semi" out of towner, staying at the lodge and all...

I plan on playing quite a few games. Hence the list of destiny! I don't game much over weekends, so when the chance arises, I WILL GAME (but i'll still socialize/cause kak/drink/smoke/cause more kak).

If the costs look a little extortionate, I do not mind contributing at all. Like a "fund to get the mountain guys up here" of sorts...

Like Paul and Phats said, I'd also like to get in some gaming. Good opportunity for us as a clan to jol some games we actually prefer and have laughs instead of just focusing on one comp game.

Finally, a response from one of the Capetonians!! J0no, how are you planning on getting your PC up there? AFAIK, you've already booked a plane ticket, do you have a plan for getting your PC up?

TBH, at the moment, I'm not particularly keen to drive up to JHB, which will cost me a couple of extra days leave, so if I am going to take my PC, I'm going to need to find another way to get it up there.

Being as there now seems a drive to get a paintball game going over the weekend, there's going to be even less time for gaming; is it worth taking a PC up there?

Still not heard from Voetsek and Mega on this one. Are you guys wanting to take PC's? Are you wanting to drive up or fly?

As much as I'd really like to have my PC there and do some gaming (two years ago I didn't have a PC at rAge and I really regretted it), it's not an easy prospect to get it up there from CPT.

Regarding the paintball thing, I just wanna put in my 2c quick.

Sorry if this comes across rude, but I haven't played paintball in ages. I don't have any equipment. I never really enjoyed it that much. This is rAge weekend, I can play paintball any other weekend of the year and although it won't be with you guys, I would FAR rather game than shoot you in the head with a paintball gun.

Additionally, I have put together a budget plan for the weekend (because it does get a little pricey as you know). I have not catered for paintball equipment etc.

Irrespective of what happens, I won't be playing paintball. I want to game and socialize with you dudes, not hunt you down and swear at you

I tend to agree with the resident Greek on this one. As much as I do enjoy paintball, I think that we have limited enough time as it is to game over the weekend, without taking a day out (it'll take the best part of a day) to go elsewhereand partake in other activities.

Regardless, I'll play PB if the majority want to do it, but if that is the case, then I definitely won't bring my PC up (not worth it for the limited time available).

@Christo/Mega: If we're not doing PB, I'm happy to drive up with the PCs, as long as you are both keen to do so, and don't mind if you have to drive one of the ways without me (I may have to back on some work in Jozi - not confirmed at all, but things have a habit of working that way). I will of course pay my share for petrol both ways, regardless of whether or not I'm in the car.
