Games to Play

Post by Phatso »

Hey hey

rAge is just around the corner... In 6 weeks time, the most epic weekend will be among us and we will once again be reunited for drinks, chuckles, jokes, hugs , kisses and of course gaming :jig:
Don't know about you guys, but the anticipation has been seriously building up within me... Like a beast waiting to be unleashed...

This year round, things are changing up a bit... There is no Battlefield competition that we'll be competing in. While this would've been cool, it also allows us to do stuff we never really did, mess around with OTHER games! I know its like cheating on the good ol Battlefield, but my rAge weekends gaming in the past has been 90% Battlefield and being able to jam some other games with you cats should be pretty wikkid!

So, lets use this as a list of games you want to play with each other.. Hehe.. List the games we all need installed and the requirements so that everyone knows how to get the game (legit needed?) patches required, spare HD space for copying, what to practice in (cos lets be honest, getting teabagged in a game at a lan makes you feel really violated) etc etc etc.

List of... DESTINY!! (quote from here noobcakes)

GAME: Battlefield 2
VERSION: 1.5 - pirate version works afaik.
NOTE: Good old Battlefield 2... Ever the epic game and will no doubt see quite a few rounds played for some nostalgia.

GAME: CoD 4
VERSION: (PLEASE ADVISE)
NOTE: Although not our game of choice, you'll more than likely find a game of COD at any time of day and not bad for messing around a bit for some laughs.

GAME: Team Fortress 2 / HL2DM (you can "buy" this for free off Steam, so no excuse not to!)
VERSION: Updated as per Steam I imagine - cannot play pirate version.
NOTE: I do not know how Steam games work in a LAN environment, but these are classics that I hope we'd be able to play.

Barry (Anthrax) is trying to organise a BF tournament tho whether that works out remains to be seen. Even if he gets it off the ground it will be a kaibosh due to the fact that most clans will be spread out over the LAN and not seated together.
That said, as Phatso chirped, lets get ourselves ready for action. We need to agree on what we want to play and have those installed and patched for the LAN.
Not sure if BBH will be there but it would be FRIGGIN AWESOME if we could get a BF2 match on with them.

If you list a game here that needs to be patched, I suggest putting a link (local preferably) to the files

Rage must catch a wakeup and open ports for battlenet/BC2 authentication etc. Fooksnakes, a lot of recent games require internet authentication for MP. Either the games must change or the LANS must change or we will all be playing CS at the next LAN.

Nice job Phats, well done on getting this list under discussion well in advance of the festivities.

List of... DESTINY!!

GAME: Battlefield 2 [Confirmed - works on Win7 32 and 64bit]

NOTE: I do not know how Steam games work in a LAN environment, but these are classics that I hope we'd be able to play - http://store.steampowered.com/app/440/

GAME: Starcraft2 [Definitely has no LAN capability. Battle.net only on this one]
VERSION: Current
NOTE: I haven't played it but I hear its awesome and if we have the time, I'd like to create a mini grrr tourney with a small but thoughtful prize for me when I win. PS what exactly is a Zerg? Heard that name thrown around a bit.

GAME: Borderlands
VERSION: Don't know will find out
NOTE: Currently a Steam sale on the title. 66% off, meaning $10 a copy (or $30 for 4 copies). This will only last for a couple of days, so well worth grabbing if you don't own Borderlands yet - http://store.steampowered.com/app/8980/

GAME: Left 4 Dead 1/2
VERSION: Updated as per Steam
NOTE: Always good for some good co-op laughs, and maybe also some versus action - http://store.steampowered.com/app/550/

GAME: Worms Reloaded
VERSION: Released on Steam in a couple of weeks
NOTE: A few of us already have this on pre-order, would be awesome to have a Worms tourney going, even if we're only running it off a couple of PC's. The ultimate party game and it makes an excellent spectator sport too. Only $17.95 on Steam, get your copies odered now!! - http://store.steampowered.com/app/22600/

GAME: Unreal Tournament 2004 or Unreal Tournament 3
VERSION: Latest
NOTE: No ad-hoc get together is complete without some pure DM and CTF action. UT2K4 is dirt cheap nowadays (if you can find it), would be cool if we got a bunch of copies so that everyone could play. UT3 black edition is $20 on Steam - http://store.steampowered.com/app/13210/. If we had a bunch of peeps willing to buy it, we could get one person to download off Steam, and provide backups to everyone else on the day (same applies to any Steam game, really).

GAME: SACRED 2
VERSION: SACRED GOLD (incls BLOOD & ICE exp)
NOTE: Most definately can play this on a LAN and is uber fun as a hack n slash RPG mania game! Don't bother with the STEAM edition, it doesnt include Ice n Blood.

GAME: ALTITUDE
VERSION: Latest
NOTE: Can be bought on Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/41300/) and played OFFLINE on a lan apparently. I've already bought this for a bunch o GRRRbians, but Phatso n Lep I think, havent re-claimed their STEAMGIFT (LONG TIME AGO - AS IN MONTHS - IT WAS SENT) - do eet.
Not sure who else needs a copy.

I was looking at my Steam gift list thingy... And there are no gifts :( Maybe try resend?

Also, maybe needs another thread, but could you guys post what Steambackups you have? I know this won't be doable @ rAge itself, but I have always wanted to purchase off Steam, but never had the bandwidth to DL the game itself. Spanx.
