New Leadership question

Post by Paul »

Jarrod mentioned this is the Leg 4 thread and for those of you who only joined after rAge last year, each year before rAge we as a clan vote for a new clan leader. It is a 100% democratic vote and the "winner/loser" is announced at rAge. The only rule is the previous leader cannot be nominated to stand again.

I would like to know if previous leaders (excluding Jarrod) can be nominated/chosen as clan leader.

So if some one was crazy enough nominate mega/j0nny/lee, would that stand or are all previous leaders excluded?

I would say that you can nominate whomever you like (except the previous year's leader), but if you were to ask anyone else who's done it before, you may receive no more than a loud burst of hearty laughter in your poes face or worse from that person.

AFAIK, there is nothing in the rules about re-nominating a previous clan leader, as long as it's not the current leader.

However, everyone in teh clan does have the right to make themselves illegible for the job, so if you were to nominate for example Mega, he could decline the nomination if he wanted to.

I think that the best way to handle the elections this year is to do it as we did it two years ago. Everyone gets a chance to nominate suitable candidates, and then everyone gets to vote once all of the nominations are in. I prefer to do it this way for two reaons:

1. It gives potential candidates the opportunity to decline nomination
2. It means that the actual voting is limited to those members that are eligble for the role, and ensures that we don't get lots of people with a couple of votes each.

I'll put upa nomination thread in the next week or so (beginning of August), so that we can get this show on the road.

My view is that although previous leaders could be up for re-election, noone should serve 2 consecutive terms. Its a lot of responsibility and its good to keep changing to fresh, unjaded leadership.
