Welcome Danglers
Welcome to the team guys.
There is a lot for us to work on, but I have faith in our EPIC team. Lets get as much Clan mode practice as possible, I think we're in for a good showing.

Re: Welcome Danglers
jonno's suggestion with the 2 man squads iza best i've heard - was my initial thought during the beatah vershun too
We tried out the 4man squad last nart and it falls flat on it's face very quickly during attack.
My idea's for the 2 man squads is like this:
On Attack
2 X 2 Man ADVANCE squads one set consisting of a recon and medic, the other with recon and assault.
2 X 2 Man FLANKER squads each with a medic and Assault
Obviously we'll adapt and those kit roll outs could include some Engineers at some stage, but on attack it's V.Importentê to hold our tickets by reviving and keeping the Recons supplied for motion sensor deployment.
Our ADVANCE squads move in 1st and send out Motion Sensors, the FLANKERS can squad swop for better deployment, then swop back - their role will always be to try covertly move around the enemy, making every attempt to avoid being spotted and listening for motion sensors and enemies. Once in a good position at least one of the FLANKER squads will need to try hold their ground in a sneaky place so that ADVANCE or the other FLANKER squad can spawn on them. The other FLANKER can then either deploy and destroy or draw enemies out for ADVANCE so that they can deploy and destroy. This is going to be seriously different, but we'll work on it and get it to a fine art.
ANY squad that can steal enemy vehicles MUST do so, or at least leave it full of C4 to crush the enemy should they take it.
Anyway, we'll talk about it more in the coming days, for now we need to get out team cohesion working.
We need one man to be Commander, not in the BF2 sense obviously, just someone who can read and call the game since they think the clearest on the battlefield.
I'm thinking Mega is the best man for this job, but we can leave it up to nomination if you like.
If it is Mega, then it's YOUR task to follow his orders without question.
So if he says we need to make a move on A, then thats what we do, no moving around and pussy footing looking for more people to kill - move yer ass and follow his orders.
Although I may be the so called Captain, I know my play style, I'm a grunt,I engage and am more likely to be pre-ocupied in combat than to think about what we all should be doing overall.
Having said that, in attack the idea is to avoid enemy contact as much as possible, a downed enemy is a huge highlight on the minimap for enemy medics that alert them to our location, so we definately need to avoid combat as much as possible.
anyways - scratching away trying to think of good ways to do this....more to come

Re: Welcome Danglers
I like the 2 man squad concept but think we really need to be fluid and dynamic with squad swapping on attack. When attacking the best tactic IMO is to split up the defense, ie have 2 groups flanking and engaging the defense whilst the others pull a ninja to the back. Its hard on the narrower rush bottlenecks though and in those cases I think we must move ASAP to get through and retain spawns beyond the bottleneck.
I'm happy to call out tactical decisions mid-map if the team requires it, or at least to try.
Best way to get a grip of the game will be more pracs though.

Re: Welcome Danglers
From the games I've been playing, the key to winning is:
On defence: keeping the attackers stuck at the bottleneck. We need to spawn far up front and keep them in the middle of the map. Doesn't matter how many deaths you go through, you can't lose the match for your team. No need to take chances reviving buddies, stay alive and they can spawn on you if you call it.
On attack: Sneak past the defence. Medics, Medics, Medics. Each death = loss of ticket. Be patient.
The fewer tickets your team has, the more the players seem to feel they need to go Rambo to save the side. Try to stay composed and dismantle a defence little by little.
ALWAYS SPOT BEFORE SHOOTING!!!! Make a habit of spamming your spot key wherever you look, even if there's nothing there.

Re: Welcome Danglers
I'll have to work on my squad swapping as this is a current weakness, I like the 2 man squad configuration. And we do need to learn to swap out as quickly as possible even if you die you should hop out the squad to leave a space for a living player.
this way we always have forward spawns to work from.
In terms of the UAV I think this needs to be investigated as it may play a pivotal role in the game and provide brief overview and if not something else for the defensive team to worry about!
What are the thoughts on the UAV?

Re: Welcome Danglers
I think I'm missing something in your post?
If we die we should stay in the squad otherwisewe'll have to spawn back at base camp.
As far as I understand, the bonus of having 2 man squads is that if both members from 1 squad die, then they can both swap to another squad, spawn in the front lines, then swap back to their squad.
To have this work smoothly, the living person who will be swapped to will have to point out which squad to swap to on request.
I picture the scenario like this...
Lep and I die sneaking around the side building...
We call - "Bravo squad down"
Geth says, "I'm alive - squad Charlie"
we swap to Charlie, spawn.
Move to Bravo, continue sneaking.
Kill everyone and win the map.

Re: Welcome Danglers
LOL Love that scenario, Grav.
Firstly, HOOOOAHH!!!! Let's rock this 'gents!
I agree with da 4 squads of 2 men... we just REALLY need to practice swopping around. It wasn't our strong point in BF2.
I also agree with Geth being the "comm" for in-game on-the-spot calls. He def has a good understanding what is happening overall.
If Geth ends up having to go to some far away country, then I vote Lee to be da "comm". You were the one to actually point out things for me to say last night! I'm not comfy doing it as I normally need to focus so on keeping my ass alive.
I just wanna stress the importance of doing what the "comm" says immediately WITHOUT QUESTION! Don't hesitate, just do as told. A lot of spontaneous calls happen because of situations/opportunities that suddenly appear. From experience with comm in BF2, leave it too long and that upper-hand advantage disappears.
I believe we should at least all be comfy/adequate with every class in order to be fluid, but I strongly believe we should each try to specialize in one class. This will also help in establishing our 2 man squads... putting the best ppl in their best role.
