Introducing myself

Hey all.

Well, this is my post to introduce myself. Candidate (Paul) nudged me to come over and see what Grrr is like, as I'm looking for a clan to join that plays BFBC2.

Well, uhm, let’s see. I live in Cape Town, am 37 years old/young (depends on how I’m feeling), single (never been married) and therefore have a lot of time on my hands to play games. Phatso says I'm "old school BF", but I disagree, as I only started playing online games with BF2 back in middle of 2005 when I got adsl. "old school BF" to me is those who were playing BF1942 online before I arrived on the scene and who used to own me regularly in BF2. I was a part of the MerC clan if anyone remembers it from BF2.

So anyway, I know some of the Grrr members, from playing BF2 with them, which I played for a year and a half online back in 05/06, before moving onto playing eve-online, which I still play, on and off, mostly when the alliance (group of eve "clans") I'm part of goes to war, then I log in. I'm a little bored in eve as I've done/experienced most of appeals to me about the eve. It's an awesome game though.
I played some COD4 online last year for a few months, but skipped MW2 due to no dedicated servers, and I've tried out TF2 but seems I joined after its glory days have passed and the servers are largely empty nowadays.

Why I am considering joining Grr, if you will have me... well, I'm looking for somewhat relaxed clan of people to play with on the BC2 public servers. I'm not looking for a clan like the ex-"FiB" whose sole goal is to be the best, and where many of the players have big ego's and consider k/d to be the be all and end all. Yes, I'd like to have a good k/d myself, but not at the expense of playing with people who are not nice and pleasant to be around, or playing in a pressurised/stressful setting.

So, I guess for the time being I'll be speaking to you all on ts and trying to squad up with you. Don't be shy, I don't bite, I just toob with my 40mm

I remember playing BF2 with you from the early days (when I started BF2 under the nick mckelvin7). Always a pleasure to be in your squad and play alongside you. And always a difficult opponent. I'm glad to see your application pop up!

3. I'm going to have to go with ChaosADPumpkinHead. Because despite his deep gruff voice, even on his off days when he was in a bad mood, he was always nice to me on voip in BF2.

Gravity's questions:

I'm guessing your questioning my commitment and desire to play competitively. #1 reason I want to be in a clan, is to have a stable nice group of people to squad up with on the public servers. Clan matches are fun, but they take second place. I'm quite happy to be in a clan, and be on the reserve list for matches. Competition isn't what drives me to play games. It's the fun of playing that brings me back time and time again.

1 & 2. I've been interested in joining a clan since I played the BC2 beta, mainly because of the lack of voip ingame and the lack of teamwork if your not with a group of people that know each other and have voice comms. Clans have ts channels. Voip problem sovled.

3. I came over to Grrr, because Candidate nudged me over here, after I lamented about the lack of voip and how I couldnt find a decent clan without it, in a thread his on the saix gaming forums. I remember enjoying being in a squad with Candidate in BF2 and decided I would come and check Grrr out.

4. Nope, no other games atm. I do play eve-online, but it's a totally different type of game to BC2.

5. If by dedicated gamer you mean, someone who loves games... hell yeah. I've been playing pc games since I got my first IBM XT Clone back in '87 and multiplayer games since Doom 1 came out and a few friends and I hooked up a 4 player arcnet lan to play back in '93 or '94 (long time ago... galaxy far far away and all that jazz).

Oh yeah, I remember the nick mckelvin7 from BF2. Always made me pause, as we had a kmckelvin nick in the MerC clan I was part of in BF2. Each time I saw your nick, I wondered why my clanmate didn't have his MerC tags till I looked a second time.

Obviousely it had swine flu!
Actually, I shouldn't mention swine flu as it gets my blood boiling a bit, how the pharmacutical industry sold the world one big pandemic scare in millions upon millions of untested vacines that it was obvious from the start, we would never need.

Oh ho ho, SD, I can see your a conspiracy theorist after my own heart with these questions your giving me.
In answer to your question, well, clearly, it's obvious isn't it. Scary that such an innocent sounding industry has such neferious things going on behind the scenes and almost no one sees the obvious and the world just goes about assuming baby oil is a "hello kitty world" type "happy thoughts" product. It's just sick I tell you!

Now you got me wondering here. What don't I know? What are the babies doing when we think they are asleep? What are they up to?
