Vote for your 2017 clan leader

Post by Salty Ferret »

Hi future clan leaders,

Please give us a reason to vote for you!.

Some ideas:
What would you change in the clan?
What would you bring to the clan?
Where do you see the clan going?
What change will you bring?

These are just some ideas to spark some thing.

Kind regards,
Grant Kemp

Small Wall of text incoming.

Just a couple of things I would really want to focus on should I be elected:

1. I feel that in the recent past we have been very disjointed and unstructured. This will be a big focal point. Grant has had some good ideas with extracurricular social activities and we should deffo’s carry on with these. However feel that we should try and do the same again with gaming, where we arrange events or certain gaming nights depending on the different games that the clan is playing or interested at the time. Communicate as well as possible and make sure we get as many people to attend these gaming nights. It’s after all the reason we are a clan. And that is to GAME TOGETHER! Irrespective of what games. You can even play a shitty game, as long as it’s with Grrrbians it will be an awesome game because of the company.

2. Another focus point would be to try and breathe life back into the forum. Yes we have WA and it’s great for day to day comms/ Hanno’s mom’s jokes. However doesn’t replace the forum when arranging things and looking at new recruits etc. Not to mention that Lee has spent a lot of time and effort to keep the forum/site up and running and fresh. Think this is a tool we are not using and frankly should be using a lot more. Not just for us but also from an “online presence” POV. Currently the forum has become a bit of a “Ghost town” and external people/gamers visiting would have picked up on that.

3. To build on the last point. I believe Grrr needs to get back their place in the online community as we have sort of disappeared lately (My opinion) and this is worrying. Could be attributed to a lot of reasons. A good game (hopefully BF1) will obviously greatly assist with this. However, if this doesn’t pan out we need to focus on other games/ways to ascertain this again. We shan’t go into the abyss!

4. Then there is also the general question that has been raised recently to change a lot of things we do. Regarding this: I feel yes, we should be evolving and changing to keep up with the times and keep it fresh and interesting. However, we shouldn’t completely get rid of tradition and what makes us who we are and the legacy this clan has had up till now. We should keep our identity!

Not everyone might agree with all of my points, and if you don’t please let me know.

Believe I have answered/covered the questions in the above point’s, even if not directly. These are just general points. Have some ideas for some of them already, and for some will have to go and brain storm a bit.

As a closing note. I love this clan and will obviously assist with the above even if I am not elected.

Hi Ion, great campaign doc, but I have a quick question.

Specifically relating to points 2 and 3, how will you go about making those things happen? Personally I'd love to see the forum come back to life, but it has been a while since it saw regular use. Likewise with our position in the community. How do we build our brand up again?

A more generic question - do we intend becoming a competitive clan again, and if so, what level of competition are you looking for? Do we want to be premier league contenders, and if so how would we achieve that? Or are our ambitions more modest?

Looking forward to your answers, thanks mate. Fly, it would be great if you could address these questions too.

Hi J,

Thanks for the questions and hope I can answer them to your satisfaction :)

As with most things in life, if it doesn't get used it will disappear. There is a couple of ways to getting the forum running again ranging from something as simple as just to start using it again as a primary source of comms/info. To looking at other possible ways of integrating this more into our daily lives( Lee has done a lot already in this line where notifications get sent to mail etc.) Will have to perform some research in the future. Possibly integrate to other platforms etc. Getting a comp team running again will also immediately boost the activity. At the end of the day, we are a collective and I am sure there will be other valuable inputs that can be used. One can also start a requirement where members need to check the forum at least once a week maybe. Lastly, we need to start getting relevant/important information back on the forum that members want/need to read.

Community position is purely based on visibility. People playing on servers. participating in community events/ Forums(tournaments/shout casting). We could also open clan events/gaming nights to the rest of the community, once these are off the ground? Same as with the forum, we already have the tools to get visibility going again on social media(FB, Twitter) etc. We just need to start using it again. Something simple as people not using their tags online could also go a great way, and its something we should be doing anyway.

Re: becoming competitive again. this frankly will depend on the level of commitment from the clan and also how good we are. If the commitment and interest is there, then we can play prem. However, if it isn't and we have a group playing more casually. then we need to play in a league where we don't get slaughtered and it remains fun. I don't need to state the obvious, that everyone wants to play and everyone wants to win. So we need to be realistic with our expectations. What you put in is what you can expect to get out....

in closing, I am a firm believer that the best solutions usually is the simplest. Just getting people involved again, and getting events going again. Start using social media again(Grrr FB page). We have enough people for a CS comp team, get them to enter. Immediately you are already addressing all of the above points.
