BETA - Beatdown [EPIC]

Post by Stu »

I just had to type this up before I crash... I installed the BETA this evening and added the servers and jumped on. I was worried about my PC specs not being able to handle the game.

Core 2 Duo 1.86 E6300
2GB RAM
8800
XP SP3

I did not have one CTD and I enjoyed every second of RUSH interesting game type. The pace has increased quite considerably! However its brilliant... We had some VOIP issues and there is a Push to Talk function???? PUSH WHAT? ish... I also learned that spotting has changed pity you cant thank players and stuff.
Just Zero in on your target and hit the Q button and it spots the enemy.

Enjoying the Beta thus far had some minor bugs think some guns need to be nerffed here and there. I think this game has grrreat potential for clannies. Although there will be the different game types to contend with it just allows for more creativity... "need a hole in the wall?" BOOOM that 40mm Grenade should to the trick +1 additional entrance to building!

It is fantastic how the Battlefield degrades as the terrain and structures are levelled, the fire fights are extremely intense! I'd have to say I like the touch of your gun swaying when there is a exposition in your vicinity.

Dog Tags are back! :) got to cut up some [grrr] to add to my collection...

Ic3 bru, if you don't mind me asking, what kinda of FPS are you getting.

I am asking because my specs look VERY similar to yours (e8400, 4gb ddr2, HD4890, XP SP3) BUT i get like 20FPS.

Maybe the recent mini-patch fixed this. It seemed like SP3 was not like much by the BETA.

Additionally, I read somewhere that you may need to tweak your settings.ini file. Because I have a DX10 card, but Windows XP, I think the game is trying to run @ DX10... without me actually having it :slap:

Phatso, you definitely get more FPS than that. Your GPU is more than adequate for the game. The dual core nature of your CPU will slow things down a bit, but you should still get reasonable performance.

The game shouldn't try to render in DX10, but you can force it by making a change in the settings.ini file. Change 'DxVersion=auto' to 'DxVersion=9'. And, while you're there, you might want to change 'Bloom=true' to 'Bloom=false'. It stops the horrendous glare that the game has. IMO, the HDR lighting that they are using is very overdone! Oh, and make sure that HSAO is also switched off, it can kill performance.

A good test that you can do is to drop your res and details to lowest adn check FPS. then put then up higher, and bench again. If your FPS difference isn't very much, then your game is probably CPU bound. I've seen this with a lot of dual core setups, even those with high end GPU's (GTX260 or HD 5850 or above).

Otherwise, I've found the game to run better than I expected. Granted my rig is pretty high end, but I can run with everything on at 1920x1200, 4xAA, and it's nice and smooth indeed.

Hey Phat's

I don't know what FPS I am running? how can I tell? what can I install to check. Just installed and played the game... I do get chunky during very hectic fire fights with 3 or more ppl in close proximity.

But otherwise the game is manageable and i have not had a terrible experience. I may not have to upgrade after all... :)

I just turned my settings onto low and set my screen rez to 1440x990 and away I went. Are all your XP updates installed? I think my install is running on DX9. If I stand to be corrected.

I am happy to say I have not suffered from one CTD even if I Alt Tab out.

It does slowdown occasionally but it is still playable... well at least I think I can p00nzoar...
