I agree with Shadey and Phatso. I went to great lengths to secure myself a rage ticket so I could jam with the rest of you punks in person.

I have no problem with a PB session and I might even join in, still deciding but this is supposed to be gaming weekend where we can share those "WTF/Awesome" moments in person.

I am not saying that we must sit in front of our PC's for 52 hours straight, hell we have never done that but 2-3
hours of gaming, followed by an hour or two of talking crap grabbing something to eat, rinse, repeat is what rAge is all about.

But as Phatso says, this is your weekend to do as you please, I for one will be gaming with Phatso and Shadey, pwning their noob asses.

If it helos I would also contribute to a fund if needed to get your PC's up here.

So the pressure is now on me, eh?

The issue that I have with driving up, is that there is always a good liklihood that I'll have to spend either the week before or the week after in JHB anyway, meaning two things:

1. I would have free flights to get to JHB for rAge
2. If I drive up, I won't be in the car one way of the trip.

I don't have a problem with someone else driving my car (as long as they are over 30 for insurance purposes), but it would be seriously wrong to leave Christo to drive one way by himself in the car.

TBH, I also don't see why I should take responsibility for getting everyone elses stuff to JHB for rAge, at my own expense. Hell, it's a lot easier and more convenient to fly up, hence the fact that a couple of the Cpe Town contingent have already booked themselves tickets. It would've been great if everyone could have discussed the plans for the weekend and finalised the arrangements before doing that, so that we could figure out what was best for everyone.

Anyway, what's done is done.

Personally, I really would like to game with people over the rAge weekend. That's what we're there for, and we have reached the point that almost all of the grrr attendees actually have LAN tickets (only Ion that I know of is still ticketless). Paintball I can take or leave, especially when there are clan members that either aren't interested in playing, or don't have the cash for that sort of activity. For me, if it's not something we can all do, then it's not something that I'd encourage. Having said that, everyone's weekend is their own, and obviously we can't prescribe what everyone has to do.

I will make one suggestion regarding PB however. If possible, please could the PB enthusiasts organise this for Sunday morning rather than Friday afternoon? It's my opinion that we will, as a group, be finished with the LAN by the end of the day on Saturday. Thinking back to previous years, other than a single game on the Sunday morning, it's all been about packing up gear and getting out of the Dome (and purchasing assorted hangover remedies to help Lee survive the day). Being as there's no comp this year, it makes sense for us to pack up on Saturday evening before the braai, leaving the whole day free on Sunday for us to play paintball, copy leeched files off each other, go to Sexpo, or simply hang out at the B&B.

Sheri, let's look into the cost of couriering gear up to Jozi, and also what kind of protection the PC's will have. I am very concerned about my PC, I spent a lot of money on my upgrade last year, I don't want to risk anything happening to it. It's also very heavy, and of course has a load of water inside it.

Of course, we only need to arrange for couriering one way, because Denis is still driving up to Jozi for rAge, it's just that he's not coming back for a week or so afterwards. So Christo, J0nny and I could get our PC's up there easily enough, it's just getting them back down again.

This is awesome news. Are we sure Denis has room for 3-4 pc's (Mega might want his up too) as well as all his own stuff and his passengers'? Sheri, seeing as you kinda work in the industry, can you recommend a good courier/shipping company? I remember rAge 2008 Lee's pc got borked by the couriers he used. My rig may not be as expensive as some, but if anything were to happen to it, I'd be rather distraught.

Also, just to set the record straight, I am also super keen to play LAN games as well as PB.

I spoke with Denis about the possibility of taking 3 PC's plus his own (yours, mine and Christos - I figured that Mega is taking his laptop, and thus wouldn't be first priority for trailer space).

Denis reckons that he could fit the three PC's in, but it's going to be a tight squeeze, and may even necessitate hime taking a larger trailer than he'd intended. If this is the case, it's only fair that we cover the additional costs for a larger trailer, and also something towards petrol.

Okay then, all that is now required is to organise shipping back from JHB. BTW, Denis isn't coming back to CPT for two weeks after rAge, so it's probably not an option for most to leave PC's there for the duration.

I'm meeting Odi at the airport tonight. I'll ask her to speak to Alex about RAM courier services. Especially if there is an insurance option to cover possible damages.

WRT paintball, if i can organise a venue and gas then the total cost for each person will be minimal. having said that, if everyone budgets R100, we could have an awesome time.

Geth - my experience is that no one gets up much before 10 am on Sunday, which might be a bit late to mobilise troops, but then Major Mike will certainly blow his trumpet nice and early sunday morning to get all the privates up. :)

It was me that was asking for the game to be held on Sunday, not Geth ;)

I'm sure that there would be plenty incentive for the guys to get up and play on the Sunday, and with the whole day available it wouldn't neccessarily have to start that early?

I just think that to take half a day out on the first day of rAge, when we've all just got there and set up, would be a bit sad. Especially if the groups were divided and half the clan were remaining at the Dome. It just makes sense to do it on teh Sunday, when we typically don't do much gaming anyway.

Anyway, not my call. It's up to you guys that are doing the organising.

Ok, I've spoken to Alex and he will see what he can do for us. I've stressed the point that we are not looking for a financial discount (although that would be nice), but rather the fact we want assurance that the pc's will be handled with baby gloves.

As stated, he will look into costs (including insurance options if possible), but he needs to know the following:
1. Dimensions of the screens and cases (actual dimensions as he will work out the necessary packing).
2. How many pc's are we talking about? If I understood the previous posts correctly, then we are looking at Jono, Jarrod and Mikey's pcs. (Due to the fact that Denis will only be able to fit 3 extra pc's in his trailer besides his.) Therefore, I am correct in assuming that Geth will then be bringing his laptop.

Also, will you all bring your peripherals (kb / mouse / headset / etc...) via carry on luggage?

Please get back to me ASAP so I can get the info to Alex. Thanks y'all.
