Surreal evening last night!

Post by SlipperyDuck »

So, last night, after visiting friends in Pietermaritzburg for his Birthday braai/party, we wrapped things up at his house and decided to gather the remaining die-hards, pack them into a taxi and ship them all out to a club/bar somewhere in PMB. Once the taxi arrived (after several litres of shooters), the drunken mob sardineized (newly invented word for the day) the taxi from every possible angle, consumed every possible open space, whilst in-coherently abiding by the taxi drivers "no sitting on laps" rule.

OK, enough, this isn't a novel.

My point for this particular night, was I was wearing my 2009 blue GRRR shirt and the most surreal thing happened.
I was paparazzi-style followed around and praised by, wait for it, GRRR SQUAD FANS. W T F !
Seriously, there were a group of 18 to 20 something year olds, that recognised the GRRR SQUAD as us, GRRR and went star-struck, one dude actually said "We love you guys".
I seriously didn't know what to do with myself, it was the weirdest experience ever.

Anyway, I jolled it up for the rest of the night and went home EPICly drunk to be greeted with a friendly FU Hangover in the morning, so everything else Purdy much was the 'norm'.

clearly we are becoming somewhat of a cultural icon of sorts to have something like I've just experienced happen, it's really quite awesome, now that I think about it, even if it seemed like a fat joke to me last night.

Anyway, had to let ya'll know, too significant a moment to let pass.

I've only been wrong once, and that's when I thought I was wrong.

Pietermaritsborough? Good to know that our fan club has spread to the sticks. That is weird, when you can wear a computer gaming shirt in public and feel like a celebrity. (Aside from rage)

Nice Dude! Too bad they were not hot 18 - 20 chicks who just wanted your man meat!

Then you could casually brush them off and say you are a married man but still feel like pimp daddy

LOL thats so cool.

i keep thinking in light of this, should we standardize on branding - or just keep changing our stuff for each rage?

Hahaha that's awesome... Nothing like a night out and a guttersleep outside crowded. I lived in PMB or like 8 years, all the cool kids come from the burra!! NoMaD had his first sexual experience at the local strip joint, so you know there is something special about that town.

Guys I think this is just an example of how gaming has penetrated youth culture. You're not geeky anymore if you like BC2 or play WoW (ok maybe :P ). It's great that the clan is being recieved well by others and we get respect :) booya Lee. We should totally get shirts with soldier names on them!

You and Nomad are probably the only 2 in the clan that don't have personalised clan shirts. We make shirts every year for rage. Master Fly organised the last lot.
