Phastso,

I like your style. Thanks for your incredibly tricky questions and the promise of such grave consequences.

Q1: I have no f*cking idea. You seem cool and your nick is cool, kudos. Cool? Cool. You see what I did there... :p sycho:

Q2: "LCD trip rainbows" are sparkly. They also move a lot and tend to make me feel a bit sea sick. They also actually do have leprechauns, no gold though :sneaky:

Q3: I can often be found frequenting the local Stones, visiting Billies in Menlyn and the odd bar in Jozi on occasion. I'm still very fresh to the area and would love pub/club suggestions. I did Recess the other night, I regret it.

Q4: Mmmm, speculator. Most likely adult games with virtual reality interfaces... I can't wait for Space Marine. Who knows when that'll come out, probably well outside the 5 year stipulation. I would also like to see a next generation Dawn of War. Oh and Battlefield 3 through 5 of course - yes this franchise will live FOREVER :)

Q5: I actually do. I have never seen the attraction to WoW and have little sympathy for people who cast spells in favour of the pink mist. In my experience, the people who play it, smell funny, stash piles of dirty dishes under their beds and try their magic tricks outside the house. I be trollin ;)

OK, good start to your application. Decent intro there. I normally hold off on my questions for a few days but seeing as things are a bit slow and you only have about 80 questions to answer, here are a few that are even more important than s3xy_j's.

1. Google will take over the world in all things computational/communicational/electrical. True or False?
2. Were Google to take over, would it be a good or bad thing?
3. We have a core of members that will probably die wearing their clan t-shirts (and nothing else) but have had a few people join and leave after a few months. These 'quickies', in my opinion, failed to dive into the madness that is [grrr], felt left out and sought Nirvana/Valhalla/David Hasselhoff elsewhere. You sure you wanna take the plunge?

Hahaha! I think you lost Phatso's vote on Q5, he keeps dishes under his bed.

Onyx , :o nyx:

I was wondering when this question would come up.

Q1: I chose Hubris because it's triple edged. Since I like FPS and most FPSs list KILLED by **** with GUN, I thought it fitting that a player's hubris (arrogance/confidence) would be their undoing since I love to get in amongst the enemy, disrupt campers and punish people who stand and shoot honourably. I liked the "shames and humiliates the victim for the pleasure or gratification of the abuser". It also covers me when I run like a muppet into overlapping fields of fire or realise I have no ammo and chase after bad guys with only the threat of a care bear hug.

Perhaps most decidedly, it sounds sophisticated which makes up for my otherwise choppish nature. I know the analogies arn't perfect, but s3xy_stefan just doesn't have the same ring to it ;) As I mentioned to Paul, I just chose nicks that I thought sounded cool. BC2 was the first game in which I really started taking pride in my beatdowns and put some thought into it before hand.

Q2: I don't know, I'll probably always be a bit of an oddball - even amongst such honoured nutters. In games, I hope to be the mullet who bites the bullet and grinds out victories with diversionary attacks, flustering stupidity and outright stubbornness. I also hope to add some interesting, inaccurate and confusing TS calls. Off the field, I'm an easy going guy who laughs at his own jokes, loves innuendo and burns. I'm keen on the "team" vibe and enjoy laughs over strict "did you just drop that f*kin res?" attitudes.

Most importantly, I am an ambi-turner and have more than one look. I trust this meets with the clan's approval.

PS: My offer of conversion stands... You can be reborn and you will be washed of your sins! John Plumtree loves you. Think on that before you go to sleep. The great Plum, Leelo and I are here for you. N.B Kings Park only seats 60 000, you better act fast!

Ic3nFl4me,

I look forward to our meeting, you seem helluva interesting :p sycho: I'm sorry but humour was tough to factor into Q2-5.

Q1: Wow, I must have spent about 20min trying to think up an answer to this one before I just gave up. I want to go with it's impossible, but somehow I feel there's more to it... I just can't bring myself to actually pull out the UVAT equations and play math boy! You win. :weep:

Q2: No: George W Snr, Jnr and Obama are slaves to their own economy and that definitely does not align with morality in state action. How's that Nobel peace prize call? Although the UN is impotent in terms of armed force, it is the ultimate authority on state on state action and should be respected, regardless of "threats to national security". I'm shocked there was a coalition force at all, let alone continued international support of the US war effort, bar lip service outcrys and protestations initiated by individuals - perhaps that is proof enough of global economic dependence and huge disparities between real and nominal power.

If you asked me while I was smoking a joint, I'd say that America manufactured 9/11, the war in Iraq and the Taliban as part of a grand scheme to unite the world's largest and most indebted economy against a common enemy and dodge yet another economic bullet. After all, some of the world's greatest minds live in the US - they must understand the inherent failings of capitalism and the need to perpetuate their situation or face a wholesale upheaval of the conception of property (wealth) - which would put a serious dampner on their corporate getaways, kids and social climbing.

I believe the proof of the war in Iraq is in the pudding - Sadam is dead, Osama is catching waves in Hawaii, Iraq is more unstable than ever and thousands of Americans have had pay-cheques through the recession thanks to the overwhelming show of force by the American armed forces (both in terms of direct employment and production). Then again, is that really a bad thing considering authoritarianism is never the answer on a national stage and the US economy sets precedence for global affairs? I think it ties into the following question/answer.

Q3: Good question. I studied economics and politics, so I love this kind of stuff (ok it was undergrad so I'm no Amartya Sen). There is no clear cut answer in my opinion. Preservation of culture and ideology is important, but how does one deny the clear benefits of democratic stability and capitalism? Moreover, how does one deny the evils of inequality associated with capitalism and Western democracy? The same question rages on in South Africa, especially amongst tribalists and Afrikaaner nationalists.

There are definitely major negative consequences for squashing ideology and culture in favour of modern conceptions and behaviours. The assumption of course is that modern is better, we don't really know - but history has proven that better is irrelevant and subjective (to the victor go the spoils and the history books), progression (even off the edge lemming style) is absolutely inevitable. So after much waffle, I believe that forcing opinions and ideals onto others is fundamentally wrong, but nonetheless inevitable. The crux lies in whether the approach is controlled, humane and preserves as far as possible old ways of thinking.

Q4: Yes! And the Addendum. My initial perception was WHOOOOA, mind grenade! I must admit I was swayed by the magic of it all. I've come to realise that some of the research was sketchy at best and it represents the age old battle between socialism and capitalism. In that socialism is sidelined due to the short term benefits and well entrenched nature of capitalism, and therefore must expose the long-term evils and deception associated with capitalism to bring about positive change. It's not clear that socialism is a panacea, it has flaws just like capitalism. So I believe a middle ground is the mean to which society is and should be tending.

All considered, I feel the socialist in me was perked, but I do not see it as a prophetic film that my kids should be subjected to. It's a film for a time and a place; namely for awakening considered ways of thinking to counter the overwhelming tide of capitalistic culture evident today globally. Utopia would be great, but the very word describes it's unattainability :slobber:

Q5: I haven't, but I am looking for it now! I believe that Quantum Mechanics is a theory that successfully explains sub-atomic behaviour for current purposes; but like all theories, ideologies and schools of thought, it is not an overarching framework of everything. I believe the universe we live in is amazingly rational and proof enough of the divine - if only so far as the universe is the physical manifestation of the divine - and the divine is the metaphysical manifestation of collective conciousness' preference for order and "goodness". Only the limits of our language, scientific method and populist nature are holding us back from that complete understanding of everything. I hope I've taken the tack you were getting at...

Q6: Hmmm :hmmm: I think j0nny is man enough to dispel any rumours of bi-curiousness - but in a pink shirt, he is definitely gay. Hi j0nny

Q2: Wow, you can really define a person's soul with this question. BOVRIL FTW! The taste is strong and it's meaty goodness builds character.

Q3: Easy! Much experience in this regard... :sick2:

Technically Q1 = correct and Q2 = incorrect, the person who took the gift's name was "Each"

But that is all still wrong, did your teacher not tell you to READ THE QUESTION?
Two Very important Questions for now:

The Correct answer should have been:

WTF, Durban Poison rot yer brain or what? Those aren't important questions, they are the basis of life itself!

Dragonne,

Awe daddio :D

Q1: Did not complete due to religious reasons. I hereby request exemption. :ras: The only real possibility I can admit is the inevitable statistical anomaly of repeated games. I talk a lot of smack, but in truth I think both Province and Bulls are strong sides. The competition is always good and I love the rivalry. When Victor Matfield and Jean de Villiers put on the Green and Gold, I love them. It's all about the Boks!

Q2: Nice one... Well my Dad was always keen on computers because he was writing code for early SA Gov epilepsy testing applications in the military; he used to bring home games for me to play and most of them were educational or strategic in nature. I remember sitting in his offices in UNISA and distracting his employees with Dune until I was introduced to Doom by a deviant 20 something student who worked as an apprentice with him - I think Marcel spent more time playing Doom with me than actually working, I don't think my Dad minded much and we still keep contact today. Those two games were and still are by far my favourites and I think have shaped my affinity towards the FPS and RTS genres. I think everyone has played Worms Armageddon and it's still a favourite of mine on 360.

The first time I was ever exposed to competitive gaming was with Counter-Strike. My lifelong mate Paul Tate, the guy who let me play Battlefield 2 on his account, used to play for clan Big Fat Bastards (BFB) in CS and BF2 and he introduced me to the idea of playing a game for lols and competition. At one stage Tatinator (NoMaD) was ranked in the top 20 in SA for CS - at 14, it was something so cool I could never properly explain or ever forgive him for. The two of us would sit for hours in his Dad's study (it was the only place I could actually LAN or play online) and play till my Mom came over and dragged me home after fifteen rounds of "One more Mom, I promise! Have some more tea with auntie Jeane!" I still find myself competing with Paul for scores and ownage bragging rights. He and I have been friends for over 18 years and gaming has been a major part of our friendship, it's endurance and insane nature - despite me living 600km away from him for most of my life. The two of us now live around the corner from each other and the games have changed, but we're still the same game crazy kids.

Battlefield 2142 was my first serious application of effort to pwn and BC2 is probably the first game I have been any real good at. I am by no means an expert in FPS or RTS, although I like to think I'm getting better and can compete with most. I think age (experience) and time have been the two deciding factors in me playing better. I chose 360 because of Halo - which was responsible for me failing my trial matric exams! I was on exchange at a school in London at the time, when I should've been studying for my SA exams - James Pool and I would dodge class and play Halo all day before sneaking back into the dining hall for supper. That was the first XBox I ever saw and I have been in love ever since. For those of you wondering, I passed matric with flying colours thanks to my blessed mother and a strict study regime. FIFA has become my new obsession and my self worth is very tied up with my performance - pathetic I know!

I'm looking forward to BC Vietnam, Battlefield 3 and Space Marine. I need to do some more research, because I normally rely on the "Coming Soon" sections of GameSpot and the like unless I'm really into a particular franchise.

Q3: Well, as I mentioned, I played for torment in the early days of BC2. I loved the game and it was my first taste of serious gaming - but the clan was full of d*cks and ruled by players who were, quite frankly, terrible. They ruled the clan with an iron first, crapping out players for not understanding what they wanted - while not having a steady or well thought out game plan. In effect, they won based on the skill of a few guys and lost based on their lack of cohesion or effective leadership. It was so bad that I actually left BC2 alone for about 6 months, I focused on work and even got a girlfriend.

One day, when I found myself single once again, I picked up the old BC2 box and decided to install it again - within a few games I was back in the groove and very impressed by EA's updates, but frustrated that the theme of squadplay had not sunk into people's heads yet. So, I started looking for players who played regularly and smart. Clan guys often fill squads with members only so it's hard to get a chance to play with them. j0nny and leelo were always top of the boards and playing in the evening - that suited me so I kept squadding with them as much as I could. I must admit I didn't want to join a clan after my last experience, I thought it ruined the reason why I got into gaming in the first place - to have laughs and play with friends.

I wasn't sure whether they appreciated or even noticed me in their squad until they said I was welcome to squad anytime - I think you have come to regret that show of good faith ;) I enjoyed the consistent squad play and when I was invited onto TS, was amazed by the friendliness everyone showed. I was also pleasantly suprised to see some girls involved because torment was all male and got a bit out of hand. Grrr clearly had good gaming skill and knowledge, but didn't lord that over others and their members. So long story short, I think the grrr clan embodies what I want out of competitive gaming; namely fun and good quality gaming. With an emphasis on the former, with the understanding that it leads to the latter.

How do I feel about potentially being one of the youngest players in clan grrr? To be honest, I didn't even notice. Most of you guys think your age shows, but it doesn't. Or maybe it does, because it seems younger players are generally arrogant and full of sh1t. For oldies, you play really well ;) and I have a lot of respect for the clan members. I normally hang out with older mates and I don't have any issues understanding a life with wife (hubby) and child. I don't see this as a problem at all...

Q4: Hahaha... Old Slippery... I believe the fable of the Great Duck stretches far back into the sands of time, when upon discovering and pioneering the art of pwn, lol and bangra-scam in the Southern lands of Africa led others to develop complex systems of kitteh worship and meme application. By virtue of his profound knowledge of humour and ability to apply the M1 with legendary effect, he is the coolest duck in existence. ^5 leelo

Q5: j0nny :D The resounding win is tangible...

Man I've been writing answers all day. Talk about a grilling! I feel sorry for you guys  actually going through my bungled and typically too-long responses...
