Mixed Nuts : Map Tactic: Atacama Desert CQ

Post by Skouperd »

The vehicles on the map include the Mi-28 Havoc for the Russian Army team and the AH-64 Apache for the US Army team. Each side will also have 2 Tanks at their spawn, 2 Quadbikes and one 4 Wheel Drive vehicle. There is also a UAV Station inside the destroyed vessel. An additional tank spawn at the flag closets to the two bases. Therefor each team will have 3 tanks and 1 chopper.

Some tactics applied by other people to date:
* Drive or Fly over to the enemy base as quickly as possible and steal their Helicopter. Though this may seem unfair, this leaves them without a helicopter until it is blown down. Because of this you will not have to worry about unprevoked Helicopter assaults on your team or about getting your own helicopter shot down by a much more experienced pilot.
* Mount the Anti Aircraft Gun. Enemy pilots have the tendency to fly over to your base and spawn-trap it. This time you are prepared and can take the helicopter down before it attacks your base.
* Protect your base. If one enemy has a good time camping your base, soon enough the whole enemy team will follow along and do the same. Take out any enemy you see entering the base and be prepared for another, as he will usually bring a friend or two in a 4WD Vehicle.

NUTS TACTICS:
This is just to get the ball rolling. Feel free to make changes.

1. Everybody spawn with the DART. This map we do not NEED to use pistols. The Radio-Darts will add a lot more value. When ever an enemy thing is moving, we need to dart it!
2. Engineers need to spawn with RPG. The heat seeking missle is not able to communicate with the tracking darts. Two RPG's need to hit simultanously a target. Do not try and take a TANK out by yourself. If you are alone, then wait till somebody spawns on you before you attack the tank.
3. Our 3 tanks doesn't NEED gunners. The driver need to be able to quickly switch between driver and gunner. Something I found useful is to aim the gunner's gun to the back of the tank, that way, should you need to shoot to your back, you can just swap with F2. Also the drivers should be assualt etc, not engineers. The roaming guys needs to be engineers, repair the tank etc.
4. Clinical team work is vital on this map. If we have 2 guys in the chopper, 3 guys in the tanks, then that means there are 3 guys roaming the world. These 3 guys need to dart all enemy vehicles. They also need to communicate so that they take down individual tanks together.

There is an old trick, that if you are facing two enemies simultanously. Focus all your attention on the weaker opponent (to take out) first, you should beat him easily. Then when you've removed the weaker opponent, you could focus all your attention to the stronger enemy. Now, the way in which the game is balanced, the chopper is dangerous in the right hands, but also, relatively easy to take out if it is darted. When the chopper is up, we ALL need to concentrate to bring it down ASAP. When the chopper is down, then we continue our focus on other targets.

Ideally, we would like to have at least 50% of our attack to be focus on an individual target at ony one time. I.e. 2 tanks, 2 RPG's focus on one tank of theirs etc.

Flag capture, obviously we take our closest flag. We could have a buggy race to flag "B" with an RPG dude. When the flag B is secure, we make a combined advance to the next flag.

This is a start, rip it apart guys.
