Conversely, my gameplay has gone to shit in the past two or three days. I'll put in some serious time over this long weekend to try and get myself up to speed.

EDIT: Following on from what's been said about choosing the first team, I think it should be done by Monday so that they can take on SSG in the 'friendly'.

WRT practices etc - the more we play, the more we will improve. At the moment it's almost a case of quantity over quality. We learnt from BF2 that clannies bear little or no resemblance to online play, so practicing in 'clannie' mode should be top priority for the selected first team. In terms of the upcoming league, I think we should see it as a kind of 'live fire' practice for rAge. We should study and observe in every game so that we learn from other teams and from our own mistakes. I know every clan will be on new ground as it's the first BC2 comp for any SA team, but to be brutally honest, I think there are a number of clans that will hand us our asses, simply because they have younger, better players on faster rigs than a lot of our members. I think this is one of the major factors affecting best performance for most of us: hardware. The game is new and serious system hog. For those of us that can't afford R40k rigs atm, that immediately puts us at a disadvantage. (Not being nasty to anyone that does have a kickass rig - just pointing out the setbacks for those that don't). I know if I'd tried clannie play in BF2 on the rig that i started with, it would have been brutal. Give it 18 months and I think a lot of our players will have upgraded bits here and there that will help a shitload with running the game more smoothly. On the other hand, of course, if DL manage to get us hardware sponsorship, we may be able to give some of these okes a run for their money sooner rather than later.

It was a frustrating night for most. Server lag didn't help. Good that we got started, here are my thoughts. Its long, sorry.

Focussing on objectives (attack mode).
Particularly on attack, we need to ignore the battles in the middle of the map and sneak around them to the actual objectives. Being drawn into fights nowhere near the Com sites only benefits the defensive team as they can keep spawning and replenishing their numbers. Driving the team back may work on public servers but I don't think it will in Clan matches where the respawn/revive will be more coordinated. My reasoning; even if we drive them back, we will lose time and tickets and they will know our positioning. If we are going to use the 'drive' tactic then we need to prac it and all know what we are doing at the time.

Once a site is armed (we on attack still) we need to toob camp/nade spam the fuck out of it. We need 2 toobers camped just above each point lobbing 40mm nades endlessly on it.

I am for the idea of having 1 squad member (recon) hiding as a respawn, lobbing motion sensors onto a site and 2 assaults going in with C4 but it is something we need to practice.

If you are hiding near a com site and see an enemy spawn near you and start to run away it is NOT in your interest to kill him. He will report your presence and respawn. Spot him and let him get out of the way.

Squad Dynamics
2 squads of 4 was fairly effective on defense but as Lee pointed out, it would split their defense more if we used more squads on attack. I dont think we should practice in set squads with set kits. I think we need to be dynamic and jump in and out of squads using whatever kit is necessary.

Armour
We need to support it to make it effective.

Teamspeak
My views are 2 channels for 2 squads on defense when there are 2 sites to defend, switching to 1 channel if one site is blown. 1 channel for all on attack, keeping the chat to important stuffs like squad hopping, enemy positioning, kits and respawns. I think we all need to focus as a team on attack, I think 1 channel will help.

Recon
Motion sensors are the shit. On attack and defense. I still dont rate the sniper rifle as particularly useful but 2 recons in the team with G3's/shotties would get my support.

It was our first prac, we can only get better. Those are my thoughts and ideas, hope they are useful.
