Favourite kits / roles
So most of us are jamming and have put in some time with kits and stuff.
My question to you, out of interest and also because we should probably start thinking about this for competitive play, what kit do you dig most?
I suspect a plethora of answers like mine, but I find that every kit as its situation.
Engi - silent killer, with Uncle Gustav if needed.
Medic - f*ckoff big MG and defibs for reviving.
Assault - toob and lethal rifle at all ranges + ammo.
Recon - looong range specialist, c4, motion sensors.
I am seeing myself playing with an almost identical playstyle as in BF2. Playing every kit and loving it.
This also translates to competitive play. I will play with what is needed probably, specializing in every kit.
Things may change as these are still early days.
I do however REALLY enjoy sniping and once the eye is in, close/long range makes little difference. This + the motion sensors, make it a must in competitive play in my opinion.
What are your thoughts at the moment?

Re: Favourite kits / roles
My current thinking is that teh anti-tank role in BC2 is not going to be as important as in BF2. Sure, we'll still need AT, but the vehicles have been toned down sufficiently that they aren't hugely overpowered, and shouldn't dominate the maps. As long as a number of people carry the red dart pistol, we can tag enemy vehicles for the quick takedown.
As far as kits go, I'm fond of them all except Recon, I've never been much of a sniper. Medic is defintely the easiest to play, the LMGs chew up everything. I guess give the choice I'd play assault or engy though, I'm starting to get rather good with those two kits.
BTW, I'm going to move this topic into the clan thread, don't want external parties reading our initial strats discussion.

Re: Favourite kits / roles
Well so far and this may change with the upgrade, medic is my kit of choice mainly becuase as Jarrod says the LMG pwn. I pretty much spray and pray at the moment.
Although I have to disagreew ith JArrod about the vehicles, I think with clannies they will play a major role

Re: Favourite kits / roles
I think the views on the vehicles will change over time. People are still learning how to use them on the maps. I've tried to stay on the big open maps and watch how the other players are using the vehicles.
Taking choppers down with the tank is easier in BC2 than BF2. Maybe its just that I hook up better with these physics?
Can make the tank last longer... takes more than 3 at rockets to take a tank down, and the rockets aren't guided.
The mounted AT's are a problem, they take the tank down easily. We'll need someone to specialise in the TOW position!!! Just a couple hours of towing and you should be able to hit the tank before it becomes effective. On the other hand, our tank can't really move until we've made sure the enemy TOW is out. From there, our tank can move in and keep destroying it when it respawns.
The tank has become a lot like the chopper... It's only really effective with a gunner. The machine gun has been disabled. The gunner is the guy who needs to know what they're doing and needs to work well with the tank driver. Doesn't help if both are watching the same direction. The tanker should be taking out TOW's/Armour/Buildings first, infantry left for gunners.
We also need someone to practice UAVing. I've been on some maps where the UAV player has been really effective. Worth looking into having someone specialise in that.
As far as squad gameplay goes...
If we can get the tank in to a prime position, we can have players pour out of that tank and move in to the objectives. Having someone sneak around the sides/back is always a good idea, and this time we don't have to worry about making them a squad-leader first. Our best chance is to pick our weakest player to do the sneaking, and once they're in a good position, we spawn off them. They'll become our strongest asset in the game.
To practice SL'ing, its prob best to play lone-wolf on a server and see where the quietest parts of the map are. Don't shoot anything, just sneak around and read the player movements for each map.

Re: Favourite kits / roles
ja the vehicles in the hands of pro's are dangerous.
I like ALL the kits. Though Engi is my favorite, purely for the Gustov of doomage, I love taking out snipers with a bit of flare....
Though, after a few attempts at medic, I like the medic roll too, not so much for the mad guns (XR8 LMG is fraking rediculous, try it), mostly for keeping my squad alive, it takes a special breed - onny knows what I'm talking about.
Recon, I play with a shotgun, i like it purely for the motion sensor and assault, well there's a couple of high level unlock guns that are seriously unstoppable, but I like keeping engies stocked up...
All in all, I'm easy. I was watching a couple of other clans, how they played, there was a lot of squad jumping.
eg: their squad went down, the 1st one to go down(countdown lowest to spawn) skipped to another squad in the frontlines, spawned then swapped back.... followed by his 3 teamies...pretty smart move - we must practice doing the same - it's essential if you ask me.
blah blah, jsut gimme a gun and I'll shoot.

Re: Favourite kits / roles
Obviously my favourite has and will be the Medic. The Engi comes a close second, just because I get to hold Gustav how he likes it. I haven't really had a chance to unlock anything serious on the Assault kit and I doubt I will venture playing the Recon. Will leave that up to the sniper dudes to play and get the thrills. Assault I will probably only play to unlock the re-supply so that I can swap over momentarily, should the need arise.
Other option is I start to find ways of sneaking around the map, like Grav suggested.

i am enjoying the engi, and will start the medic kit soon as well, to get the unlocks.
Lee - thats what i have been trying to do for a while now WRT the squads, just make sure you spawn on someone not under fire.

Re: Favourite kits / roles
I used to love Medic, but not so fond of it in BC2. I did play enuff to unlock the medpack and defribs though.
I've neva been a sniper and neva will be. When I do play recon, I use the M1. I like it for the c4 and mortar. Still need to work on this to unlock basics.
My fav kit so far is Assault and would prefer to play this kit. I most often play this kit on the servers and have unlocked the necessities.
My second fav is Engi and played enuff to unlock the repair tool. (Even got a kill with it
)
My plan is to play enuff of each kit to unlock the basics so I can switch when needed in a clannie.

Re: Favourite kits / roles
I'd thought that Medic would be my strongest kit... however its is not my strongest kit don't even have defibs.
My two favourite kits are:
Assault
Engineer
Followed by Sniper and Medic, I'm working hard to unlock the basics but admittedly I am working harder on Engineer and Assault than any other of the kits. I am also generally only playing with the standard kits to make sure I am familiar with them. Squad swapping will deff have to be investigated.

Re: Favourite kits / roles
I've only played Recon so far - don't have much time to diversify. I think it will be a fkin useful kit for clannies, so am doing my best to unlock everything I can for the kit and to get myself specialised. In a couple of months when season dies down, I will delve deep into each kit and its weapons.
