Servers should be easy to deploy and abundant soon (low requirements)

Keeping a very close eye on this. Its the successor to Project Reality which was the hugely successful mod for Battlefield 2. From the looks of it, its a smoother, quicker, easier to run / play version of Arma 3.
My concern with local servers is that we probably won't get them... may be wrong but lets see - the flip side is that tactical FPS games don't need local servers really - see Arma 3 and Red Orchestra 2, both run perfect fine with 200ms.
I know a few local guys that have it and will ask them how the game runs and plays as a South African.
Another thing to remember, its Early Access - which is practically like pre-ordering.. And @ R400 for a semi-complete game, I am a bit wary.
So far, it looks incredible and the gameplay vids look like something everyone would like - very much like a more realistic version of BF2...

Ok, so haven't played much yet. Will do a writeup once I have some time in. In the meantime:
Re local server:

Whether there are enough South Africans is another story.
Re local server:
soon the server files will be free to access, so you're welcome to start arranging a place to host down there, as you will soon have the chance to do so.

Epic run tonight guys, good to see us all learn the ropes.
Some stuff that may help.
Game Modes
AAS - Assault And Secure - There are a set amount of flags on the map. If you capture the entire map, it starts a ticket bleed for the other team. If a team runs out of reinforcement tickets, the game ends.
Insurgency - In this gamemode, the US (Blufor) hunts for Insurgent (Redfor/Opfor) weapon cache's and has to destroy them while the Insurgents defend them.
Territory Control - One team starts with all the flags on the map. The other team has to try and capture as many of the flags as they can.
Also, server browser for your browser - squad.rocks
