Good Evening Infidels...
So... I'm considering getting a new SSD around Rage time... what should I look for, size, speed, price, etc?
I know that Rage normally has these components on sale, but is it worth waiting for then? or just got and buy it?

What he said. Some shops have somethings on a bit of a special but majority are normal price. The nice thing about Rage, is you get it there and then.
Im running a Corsair 128GB Neutron drive, cant fault it. Its quick and worth the loading times. But obviously size is always a problem. So you load OS on and may be your favorite game. Then its done

Also got a 128GB and yes space is a problem, only got OS and BF4 on there, but loading times are really worth the money.
Got to go with the guys, last year they had 1 or 2 specials on SSD's but like Skouperd said, get it from a source where you can take it back if anything goes wrong.

Paul: "Firstly they went on and on and on about UAC! Fuck UAC! UAC ain't nothing, why you niggas questioning my honour? Is it because I am black?"
Paul: "Then they came to a knife fight with a sword! A sword I tell you! Those limp wristed fools need a sword to counter act our brilliance"
Paul: "Didn't matter though, even though we lost the knife fight we still go the maps we wanted, nooooooobs!"
Paul: "After that I didn't concentrate much because I busy getting blown by all of the PewPew guys mom's"
Paul: "Even one of the sisters wanted to join in and I was all like Bitch please, you need to go practise first"
Paul: ANd that boys and girls is how you mother fucking answer a mother fucking question!
I use a 256GB SSD.
Very nice size for most FPS games and OS.
I have BF3,BF4 and some others on and still have 100GB left.
Good size/price SSD to look at is the ADATA drives. Most of the 128GB units from them are sub-R1k.
I have a 2nd 240GB Corsair that I use for video editing.
Sorry, forgot about the speeds.. Anything over 250MB/s is fine, with 550mb/s being the norm now. If you do other things other than Game the IOPS might be more important to you but I wouldn't worry too much about that if you only going to game on it.
Skouperd might also have an opinion on that.
Read speed = good for gaming.

In truth, the speed of any SSD you buy now is more likely to be limited by the SATA interface than the drive itself i.e. you probably won't notice the difference in performance between any modern SSD.
I would recommend (if you can afford it) getting a 240-256GB drive, the extra capacity over a 128GB drive is well worth it.
Of course if you want ultimate performance, get 2x128GB drives and put them in RAID 0. Just make sure that you have a normal HDD in your PC to backup your important data.
As for pricing, you can get specials at rAge. I got one of my SSDs there, for about 10% cheaper than eTail price. However, you don't know what will be available then. In my opinion, if you have the cash, get one now.
All makes are as good as one another, IMO. I've used a variety of makes, currently I have a Corsair Neutron. I had the OCZ Vertex as well, also a great drive.
Regardless of which one you get, prepare for blisteringly fast game loads. An SSD is the single best upgrade that you can make to a PC for general improvements. It WILL rock your socks!!

I agree go for the bigger drive if you can and all are much of a muchness - also running a newish corsair Neutron and an older OCZ Vertex 2 cant tell the difference its just really fast
The price on that Kingston drive is below Frontosa's cost (R1542 ex) so may be worth snapping up also the Crucial drives get great reviews for their price

Well... I already have a SSD (164GB) but it was one of the first released in SA... so want to upgrade to a new SSD with better speeds.
Then I can host my OS and most important games on the first SSD, then my other games on the 2nd SSD... with a HDD for data and documents.
So... Corsair Neutron / OCZ Vertex / Crucial are the favourites at the moment?
