We have a few Newbies this year so this is a general GrrrrAge info thread. I wanted to keep this separate from the accommodation so there is no confusion. This thread is so that everyone knows what to expect and what is expected of you (or what you need to prepare)
rAge is the annual Grrr get together and lasts from Thursday afternoon/evening until Sunday Afternoon/evening (however long you last) (9th October until 12th October). Generally people who are staying at the B & B (Heatherdale) get there on Thursday and everyone who can make it comes for welcome drinks. The rest of the weekend is kind of take it as it comes except
* Saturday evening is the Grrr Braai
* If there is a comp then that will obviously dictate the times
Tickets to the actual rAge LAN are optional and totally up to the individual, however the tickets do allow you access to the DGL comp to spectate without much restriction and because these tickets are becoming more and more rare, it is advised to get as many as you can just in case (Tickets go on sale 8:00am 2nd August). You can always sell it back to NAG at full price if you decide not to attend the LAN. This can be done up until and including the day of the LAN.
MONEY!!!!!
==========
The Grrr Slush fund is available to help sponsor the weekend but it will never cover everything (Accommodation/Booze/etc.) so be prepared to pay in your part. Jarrod usually takes care of the finances but it is a BITCH and he has to chase people every year and I am sure he is getting sick of it so PLEASE, PLEASE pay up front for the accommodation and T-Shirt(clothing) if you have opted to take it up.
Booze is sponsored a bit but if you can bring extra, it won't go to waste or if we need to purchase more then the cost will be shared. If you don't drink Booze you won't need to subsidize the rest of us but if you do then own up and pay your due.
WHAT to EXPECT
==============
Drinking, swearing, laughing, smoking , smoking, drinking, swearing laughing. It can get out of hand but everything is optional so if you just want to come for the laughs then that is fine, someone will take up your portion of drinking, swearing, smoking.
There will be at least a few of us LAN'ing. I know Skoup, Kyuubi and myself plan on taking part. Kalgat lanned last year and so did Badass and Irish. We come and goas we please so unless there is an informal comp you kind of just do your own thing.
Almost every night there is something and expect for the Grrr braai nothing is formally planned so just pitch up and find out.
Heroes of the Weekend
====================
Lee!!!! Nothing technical gets done without this Genius so offer help when you can so he isn't setting up lights/Music/camera's etc. etc. the whole time and missing the good parts (other than falling down)
Jarrod/Onny !!!- They are momma and pappa bear who organise most of this so make they jobs easy and pay up/sign up when they ask. Don't let them chase you, we are motherfucking grownups mostly
Skoup/Fly - They usually take care of braai'ing so if you fancy yourself a braai master you need to ask their permission
So you got any questions ask it here. Any accommodation specific question use the other thread

more cameras and more clips captured by you noobs equates to good video the next year - please dont leave this to just one person, if you can find a camera (HD is best) capture whatever, whenever, as much as possible - the grrr videos are a cornerstone annual production, the quality is in what is captured - so please [s]steal[/s] get a hold of extra cameras and record - coz you're worth it
(I was going to PM Paul and thank him for doing this, but I will make it more of an open post. This sort of thread is something I should have put together. It really is. I want to give you my excuses, but I guess they're monotonous... Life/work etc.. blah blah. Bottom line is, thanks Paul and sorry for not getting my ass in gear)
The real deal is clearing up any misconceptions and making sure we have as big a turn out as possible. Last year was a megaladon of a get together and I do not expect any less this year around. We do have a lot of new faces and it can be a slightly intimidating and thats what this thread is for. Ask questions.
Do you have concerns? Don't you like sharing spaces with people? Are you a vegetarian/vegan/fruitarian? Its all good, post your stuffies here
Some of us have done this 8 or 9 times so the weekend is something of a highlight of the year for us that we look forward to so much, we want everyone to partake in the epic times. Its the 1 time of the year where everyone [grrr] makes an effort to hook it up and have an epic time together.
So as current reigning monkey, I ask you all politely to make an effort and show face, its really a weekend not to be missed. Sure there is life matters that might affect attendance and that is totally acceptable, but please do your best to be at this one.
Also, make sure you post your attendance requirements in this thread: http://www.grrr.co.za/showthread.php?1480-GrrrAge-2014-Accommodation/page2

Some people find it difficult to take that initial frightful step to get onto TS with a bunch of new people, and then there is the terrifying prospect of actually meeting these bunch of crazy's in person... all I can say is that it is totally worth it!!
The braai is an evening of good people, loads of fun, constant laughs... and last year a dead rat!
That's for the new people... as for the rest of your bastards, you better be there... you know what you'd be missing by not being there.

It is kind of expected here are a few incidents from previous years that immediately spring to mind
* Stu (I think) dry humped an outside lamp until it broke
* Lee rugby tackled an innocent bush with his back
* Lee/j0nny consume rusty nails until they are no longer human (Wiskey and SoCo neat)
* Phatso talking and talking and talking and talking and salivating over Lee's choice of music
* Russian JUST SAYING DUMSHIT
* Dryman packing food and drink away like a soldier even though he has the body of a 12 year old girl
* Hubris and Nomad way too much energy, just like way too much
* Flycatcher/Mike, having a knife, alway and everywhere, there is a knife
* Irish/Dirty_Pora wearing backpack for most of the night, this ain't no 2002 RAVE! And tell me "You are actually normal looking and a nice guy"
And then there is me, I drink orange juice and sit in a recliner the whole time and am very well behaved

This is what the slush fund exists for. Let me know your circumstances, and we'll see what we can do to help.
Not sure where you live, are you a Capetonian? If so, there is usually at least one car every year that gets driven up, so transport costs can be limited. As for accommodation, we'll never turn away anyone that wants to stay for the weekend on financial grounds.
Non-attendance due to lack of cash is not an option!!
