I can go and edit the Keys file myself, but then have to look up all kinds of key-codes for "delete" and "insert" etc.
If there is another little tool, I'll gladly use it.
I'm the last person you have to worry about cheating.
The BF3 one had colour tweaking functions which was bannable.
I'm not sure if BF4 has that, but as I mentioned I just select the Keybindings/Control tab.
guys, look, don't shoot the messanger. I hear what you are all saying in terms of "oh, but I can do it with commands as well and whatever". Oh, and I am using it to give me a FPS boost... or I am doing it for this or that reason. There are two issues here:
1. EA is specifically saying no third party tools are allowed nor may you use any tools other than those authorised by EA to alter the game in any way. They group it as the same offence as using hacking and exploits and what not.
2. I appreciate that what a lot of you do is using the config files to "automate" some manual typing etc. (despite it being prohibited by point 1 above). These same config files that you create can and has been used in the past to abuse the game settings. This is done because not all the commands that is available is listed when you press ~ ingame. There are a lot more commands available than those depicted when you press ~ and those are the ones that can be activated with config files. Which is how several bannable things can be launched from.
In order for people not to abuse the system they have given you certain ways on how you can configure the game. The first is the ingame settings, if you have a budget pc then you can get the game playable in there. If you need to figure out how the game is doing with one or another one then you can turn on and off certain features in the consule (FPS overlay etc.) manually.
However, EA is very specific in that no third party tools may be used to edit or alter the game, and that unfortunately includes amending config files. I understand why they will NOT give people access to it (just because you can open the file does not mean you have access to it) as this is where things will be abused.
If we are really serious about playing as a clean clan, there can be no "grey" areas, if there is indeed a "grey area" then the game provider, EA, TOS has to have the final say and in this case, it is very clear. You may not edit or alter any file unless it is explicitly authorised by EA. (and I have not been able to find any where that EA has authorised users to edit specific files with any tool).
I will leave this topic now, (the messenger has been shotted a couple of times now) but I do think if we want to be seen as a really truly upstanding clan that follow the rules to the letter we should abstain from doing anything that may be frowned upon by EA and in the case of grey areas, the TOS must prevail. (and as stated, the TOS in this case is very clear).
