Nope, if you are in the clan you get to vote. Slippery who is the clan leader will create a poll with the nominees. Everyone gets a chance to vote and the new leader is anounced during the rAge weekend.

Thanks but can you give me some examples of the leaders roles, overseeing the clan...does that mean organising matches, pracs, braai's, swaai's and naai's?
Sorry if I'm being annoying but I need to know what this person's responsibilities entail so I know whether I can kak them out or praise them? ;-)
I was just curious as to how Paul got this very distinquished role as a douche, because I've been wanting to be one for years now. How does one attain this level Paul?

Barts, the Leader is an elected role, the responsibility is to be the Over-Riding power where needs be.
In General, the Leader starts his/her year and selects a new Admin group, like a cabinet.
eg: In My Year, I chose Phatso, Hubris, Tyger and Onyx as ADMIN roles
- Then earlier in the year I had Hubris and Later Tyger as the Captain for our BF3 Team
- We didn't have much else going on, but Editor and other roles were formulate, but LiFE won the time battle for getting my initiatives going in that space
Basically that means the Leader has the power to select/revoke rights, choose delegate clan responsibilities, such Team Captains, Forum Admins etc.
Additionally, the Leader is responsible for Clan therapy. Believe it or not, this is a real thing and is actual quite an important component.
In any group where there are a lot of faceless and fearless voices and opinions, personalities are going to clash, not everyone is going to be happy.
The Leader is the escalation point and traffic calming beacon of hope for many as wisdom and a good ear are required to help keep everyone as happy as is possible. -
Outside discussions that affect the Clan and decisions for events, etc. are mostly influenced if not entirely run by the Leader, who is essentially the external "FACE" of the clan for many things (not all).
The largest display of power is that the leader can purdy much override any decision and steer the Clan as a whole in a certain direction. This sounds absurd, but the Leader does have the overriding power. This however is not Mgabe style as there is a more powerful group that can collectively negate this power - the FOUNDERS group (similar to the US Senate).
The FOUNDERS is a collection of past Leaders who can collectively oust the Leader and induce the Headless CLAN anarchy of Wonk.
The FOUNDERS do not actively participate in policy making but can heavy hand if it is needed - you could say they are the most fearsome gentle giants of the Clan.

I always thought the clan leader's only real power was to claim the rewards of all Ducky's work, since he pretty much runs everything single-handed...
Anyways, whilst I was reading Duck's post about what the clan leader is/does, I thought it might be a good opportunity to point out to the new fellas that we have a clan slush fund and welcome any contributions. Dragonne is our treasurer, so if you have any questions regarding how to go about contributing, you can PM him, although there's possibly a thread about it all somewhere that I can't be bothered to find right now. The fund is used mainly to help finance Rage - it subsidises accommodation, booze, food, tickets etc for the weekend - but is also used to help out clan members in need (pc components for people who don't have the cash, transport costs to get people to Rage who otherwise couldn't go for example). We only used it once to buy a player from another clan, and decided against it in future since we got a dud.
There is absolutely no pressure in this regard, so please don't feel that I'm forcing this on any of you. Not everyone is in a position to donate, but everyone is entitled to benefit if they belong to the clan. Most of it goes towards good causes like getting Founders drunk at Rage so you can video them face planting into flowerbeds etc.
The main reason I wanted to mention the fund is to let everyone know that if they are considering missing Rage because of financial constraints, let us know and we might be able to get you there. PM one of the founders (we know you all have your respective favourites) and they will sort things out hush hush. Rage and the shenanigans surrounding it are what make the difference between a clan and a family. Once you put faces to the Mumble voices, things become a lot more... disturbing. It's totally awesome.
