We have some time to reflect on our play and improve it. Big thing we need to do is be able to change from the "offensive" gear to the "consolidation" gear smoothly and effectively. This isn't always easy because when the suck hits us, we want to come back hammer and tongs - often leading to heavy bleeds for little gains and a lack of flag defence. Best way to overcome is to just to STOP (SPAWNING) AND THINK!
Training plan: Two BOC pracs, 8 (maybe 7) prac matches (4 for new maps) and 2 regular practices for map planning and skills practice.
The plan for BOC practices is to get more time on Metro. If they feel confident enough to throw armour into the mix soon, we can step it up to Bazaar. This will give us a good chance to up our gun play and practice some advanced techniques like baiting and tank strikes. It will also hopefully give the BOC guys some more time to feel comfortable with playing BF3 competitively and hopefully lure in a Nutz player or three. These are competitive but relatively casual, we need around 5 Baggers to make it work.
We only have two regular practices, we must use them wisely and make them productive. The first will be going through every map we play and do some extra preparation for avoiding/escaping spawn rape. We're going to go very slowly, communicate the desired result and assigned roles to each and every player position to escape that situation. Just like we have "normal" roles, we need to have "emergency" roles. The other prac will be specifically for drilling and some winner takes all squad rush to end formal pracs. Formal and compulsory.
In the 7 or 8 friendlies, we will play rAge opponents exclusively. We will need to bring our big boy pants and 100% concentration for all of these if they are going to be any use to us. Not only will we be exposed to their strats, but we'll have a better idea of where we stand. The top guys will be a serious challenge and we might need to craft some trick plays to mess up their rhythm and hopefully make those games at rAge good contests in emphatic [grrr] style. Well and good, but solid foundations are our best chance. Normal attendance.
In the meantime, chill, enjoy the break. If you have spare time to think, apply your mind to the team, to fine tuning your game or to troubleshooting certain situations. One thing I realised against ASF is they have amazing survivability as individuals - we desperately need to get our actions and score per minute up whilst still ensuring we only present a target when taking a target down. Having a plan and having clear comms helps to make that happen, it's in each of our personal control.
Any comments, suggestions or criticisms please give them air! So far we know we will miss Tyger, Phatso and Slippery for the first week or two but they'll be back and its a good time to get some other guys involved where required especially if they are considering playing for the BnG guys. We will play our match structure and players may need to adapt to the roles required! It's a good space for those guys to get exposure to the thinking, challenges and to claim glory!

I think it was Hubris who said it during/after the ASF map about thinking what the other team did, I think this is spot on. We usually say what we did wrong which to an extent is valid but to improve we need to see what other teams who beat us are doing.
The biggest thing for me was speed, ASF did everything very fast. Lets assume two teams have equal skill, at some point a team will make a mistake and if the other team acts fast then they get the upper hand.
In 1st Div games that we won we were the team that was acting the fastest, take DAC for example, we acted so fast on Siene that we pushed them back into their uncap. We need to get faster and the only way to do that is to have precise plans and effective communication.
So re-acting with speed is what we need to work on.

So practise was good last night even though there were only a couple of us. It was pretty slow so it allowed us to work on the techniques that Hubris described. I think if you can make any pracs before the official pracs start then please do.
It is not intense but keeps the gears greased as well as allows you to practise things before it gets to hectic.

Only a ninja can kill a ninja. Regular humans are useless against a ninja.
