GRRR Jackets

Post by J_Th4ng »

Okay, with rAge approaching fast, we haven't got a great deal of time to organise the rAge gear for this year.

In a previous thread, it was agreed that we would like to move up to better gear this year, either a hoodie or a Jacket. I think that the final proposal was to go with a jacket that we could then get patches made for and add to every so often.

I've started having a look around at procuring a bulk supply of jackets, but obviously this is something of a mammoth task. There are thousands of different jacket types available, and everyone will have a different style preference. In order to try and make a manageable selection for us to vote on, I've started looking at Alpha jackets, which have a noticable military theme (which obviously suits a BF clan).

Before I go any further (I do have a potential supplier, who will discount on bulk orders), I need to know the following:

- How much would individual members be prepared to contribute towards their jackets? The slush fund can subsidise, but with over 20 people in the clan, it would only take R500 per jacket before we'd entirely wiped out the fund. The funds would probably be required in advance, I can't front a cost of this magnitude personally.

- What sort of jacket style would we like? The latest Alpha catalogue can be found at http://www.alphaindustries.com/2011LifestyleCollection.asp, I need suggestions. Currently I'm favouring the styles on page 10-11, or the 'Pea jackets' on page 14-15. A lot of the other jackets are made of that shiny material that's probably not good for affixing patches and embroidery.

- Can someone else look into the costs of embroidery/getting patches made? For this year, It would be good to get a few pieces that can be added, which would rely on someone putting some designs together (Lee, Stu?)
- GRRR clan patch (or embroidery on all jackets)
- rAge 2012 patch (for attendees of rage 2012)
- GRRR Baggers 2012 patch (for team members)
- Founding member scroll (for current and ex-clan leaders)
- Name tags for each member (might be too individual and thus expensive to make though)
- Possibly ranks? Achievements? Any other suggestions?

Personally, I think that the jackets and patches idea is simply awesome. We can, for any event or achievement, have patches made that can be given to the relevant individuals. It'll require a bit of an upfront investment from everyone to get themselves a jacket, but surely it's worthwhile in the long run to get something high quality, that we can hang onto and enjoy for years to come?

Please guys, I need feedback and decisions made on this ASAP. It's going to take time to procure these jackets, and we will still require embroidery to be done/patches to be made.

Slim M-65 - Black.

Thats THE jacket. Good material for badges etc and looks warm enough but light enough to be comfy. That jacket, sized to be slightly fitting, would like quite pimp.

Mmmmm, sorry guys, seems that teh catalogue that I linked to isn't the current one. I can't find the M-65 Black on their pricelist :(

This looks to be the latest catalogue (http://www.alphaindustries.com/2012FallCoreCollection.asp), unfortunately, not as many styles that I like.

I'll see what I can find out about other options.

In the meanwhile, it'd be great if everyone could answer the rest of my questions...

I'm happy to contribute about 500 for a jacket, I too can't find the M65. But lets discuss this I've all for the jacket and patches idea and it resolved worrying about printing a T-shirt each year not that we cant do that either!

Patches are a brilliant idea!
