Grrr doGaming league: A cliché Journey

“The road is long with many a winding turn”….or so the song says. That is exactly the journey that the Grrr team faced when heading into Leg 2 of the doGaming league. Leg 1 was not kind to the team and by not kind I mean it was the drunken step father to a redhead step child, assuming that Grrr was an Redhead , overweight, BO sweating stepchild.

They manage to only win 1 of their games in the league despite putting up some valiant performances in a group that many thought was the toughest group in the league…..the group of death. Having put that all behind them it was time to re-organize, rebuild and re-energize (All marketing companies can find my contact details on the home page). With only two weeks between the end of Leg 1 and the beginning of Leg 2, there was not much time to get a lot of work done.

Spearheaded by Hubris a.k.a. El Captain numerous practices and friendly were organized and opened up to the entire clan and some mercs. The AIM of this was to find a the best consistent team that was available to Grrr so that we could have a strong showing in the 3rd Divsion.

Bang, bang, bang, die, die, die, fuck, fuck, fuck!!!!

Eventually a new team was chosen and a renewed enthusiasm could be felt drifting among the players and a sense of direction and purpose meant that we had a good feeling about the leg. That was until we found out that our first match was against FiB, admittedly it was their 3rd team but they have great depth in the Clan and Assassin runs a tight ship so this was not going to be easy.

The day arrived, the first match, the toughest match……… the result…. A WIN…. a very , very good win! All the hard work and practice had paid off. Was this the beginning of our rise or was this a fluke, were we one hit wonders or did we have the metal to go on? Only time would tell and the next match was against an unknown team (for Grrr anyway). They had never played bOd Death Dealers before and checking their previous results showed that they were no pushovers.

In preparation for the match the Grrr team played a friendly against The Elite, a clan with some very good players but also with some controversy surrounding it. Going into the friendly the team was ill prepared and too cocky, this resulted in a comprehensive defeat even though it wasn’t a white wash. It did however ground the team and make them realize that winning required work and they couldn’t take their foot off the pedal.

The bOd game rolled around and the Grrr team found that they were worthy adversaries, it was tough match but bOd could not quite match the skill and preparation that the team had put in since their defeat against TE. So with another convincing win under their belt, Grrr was beginning to think that maybe, just maybe they had turned the corner and were on the path to victory.

With the surprise withdrawal of one of the teams from the group, only one match remains for Grrr in Leg 2. It is against a new but growing clan called Aim 2 Kill, their first team knocked Grrr out of the playoffs in Leg 1 and so this game is a bit personal, even if this is their second team. Winning this match would set Grrr up nicely for the play offs as they would go top of their group and therefore be on the easier side of the play off cup. This would be a real boost to them in their efforts to move up into the 2nd Division from leg 3.

The only spanner in the works is the arrival of Diablo 3, the long lost mistress to many of the players and the addiction has grown strong, will this cause them to falter at the final hurdle? Will this be the straw that breaks the camel’s back? At about 22:00pm on Sunday 20th May, WE WILL FIND OUT!!!!
