Server Balancing

Post by Megageth »

As per this discussion on SGS: http://games.saix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=962&sid=fca6847fae1370f6416c368aae868253

- I'd like to raise the subject of server balancing. Yes we should always squad up with each other but where the opportunity exists to balance a server whilst still squadding up with fellow [grrr] we should take it. This is something I feel strongly about it.

Learning how to counter the 'base rape' scenario will make you a better player and should not be used as an excuse. In my experience, some of us are comfortable swapping to balance and some are reluctant. I believe balancing servers should be part of the clan culture, I'd like to hear from others.

I agree and I disagree. I don't want us to be known as a clan that swaps to the good side and rapes and we should balance where we can but I also don't want us to swap and be all mixed up and learn nothing. Especially the guys who are going to play in the league.

We don't get as many pracs as we would like so public play is a good opportunity to get in extra prac especially if as we have said when we are on the pubs we need to set objectives so as to improve.

I would say, the best way would be to swap if possible without disrupting the informal prac (if that is what is happening). Otherwise, leave the server and find another

I'm all for balancing, we shouldnt need to use public servers to practice, we should be commited enough to do this separately, in small numbers it's fine, but if we have a big group of players, we definately need to balance things out.

Whenever we've had other strong clans stacking, the game becomes unpleasant, the result is that personally I think the stacking clan are a bunch of assholes when they do it as they are turning an otherwise fun activity into something unpleasant without any regard to anyone other than themselves.

I believe we are better than this, we should maintain our good habbits and NOT stack.
If ever there are 6 players from our clan playing on a server, we should have at least 2 on the opposite side. Good luck ever seeing more than 3 clan members online at any one time lately anyway.

That is what I am saying Lee. If we have 3 or 4 grrr on a side practising squadding up I don't think that is stacking at all. Unless of course the side we are on is full of l33t players. If there are 12 of us on a server then definitely we need to spread out.

What I am saying is there is no point if there are 3 grrr on one side swapping to another side just to get their asses raped, not learn anything and not have a good time. In those situations they should then just find another server

I'm all for going over and balancing a server, mega and I did this on a metro server and we ended up opening the game somewhat, it has to be part of grrr culture to ensure the game is fair and balanced for all participants.

I'm pretty sure that we had this exact same conversation a couple of months back? In fact, I think that Denis brought it up the last time.

IIRC, what we agreed at the time was that if there were more than 3 grrbians on a server, that we'd split over the two teams i.e. at least 2 people on each team. I know that we haven't been doing that of late, but currently (as lee said) it's very seldom that we have more than a squads worth of player on a server at one time anyway.

Speaking of which, where is everyone lately? When I've joined the pubs in the last couple of weeks, there's never been more than a couple of grrbians playing. Used to be that whenever I joined a server, there was always a good 6-8 players to jam with. everyone playing other stuff?

I blame you Jarrod.... ever since you exposed my son to xbox - he has been hooked like a drug addict on cocaine

I think his hours on Lego Star Wars is almost as much as mine on BF

Thanks dude and you wonder why we are not playing on the servers... you and your game dealing ways!!!!!

Now i have to save up and buy him his own computer to feed his addiction - damn you Jarrod, Steam and the summer sale
