Baggers Team

Post by Snakestyles »

Hey Guys

Just wanted to raise some points for discussion.

Practices: Need regular dates and more sessions than all of you can attend, get a buy in from Nutz to assist. The server needs to have the correct settings like all unlocks and more of you need control over it.

Maps: There is talk of working on 3 maps, this worries me. At worst you should have 4 maps your are good at and still have strategies for the others. Who knows were the season will go and what maps you will play.

Game recordings: Please do not stop doing this, it is important tool for you as a player and as a team to grow strengths and eliminate weakness. I know it's hard but if you can do it without taking a huge FPS knock please do.

Post game debriefing: Please continue to do this, there is no better way to improve than to write down failures, followed with steps on how to resolve them. As a team that is unable to spend hours in practice session this should help compensate.

Map strats: Tyger can you me and Hubris all meet and spend an evening plotting the start round starts for all the maps we can. We need to include position names for the team to reference to. Time is wasted in practice sessions going over names, lets make it easy for the team to just show up and shoot the crap out of stuff.

Game bookings: In future Tyger will handle these, I see Paul is a great help in confirming players. Keep to this structure as this will allow Hubris more time to work on starts and not be so stressed. Tyger be sure that if the other team makes the booking they give you 30 mins prior to the game for people to log in and warm up/ relax. Rushed starts suck.

Re - commitment: Leg 2 is about to start, if you don't feel you can handle the load then say so now, no reason to think you wont get a chance to return when ready or you can just continue to play in Grrr but not in the competitive scene. This is not focused at you Phatso but all the team members. Just give it some thought guys, in agreeing to commit you mentally afirm your desire to do better. Please all spend 5 mins thinking about this and post a response below with anything you want to say.

Games vs teams: Guys you really need one of these per week, preferably two. I know that it sounds like a lot of time but if games can start quickly without too much strat work you can be in and our the server in 1h30mins maybe less.

Positions/roles: If you play in a position or role and you really hate it, now is the time to talk up. Do you want to be in a different role ? Give your team the chance to hear how you are doing and what you want to change.

Public Play: Please try and play as a team in public servers. I don't care about what you do, heck you could all go and camp the tallest building on Oman as long as you are all talking and working together. What Paul & j0nny have is were you all want to be with each other. I think some times you do not hear each other because you are not used to the voices. Just hang out more and try and mix up the roles in the pub servers.

Voice: You guys are doing better but in last nights game there was not enough response to call outs and clarity of what was happening. We have to work out how to add the echo system in to your game. It is a basic army system were a message is repeated. I know it sounds corny but take this scenario as an example.

Player 1: A flag is going down, there is a tank here.
Player 2: Copy! Tank at A flag, enemy have the burn.

Now you don't have to use that exact wording but what you are doing is letting the player know you are aware of the situation, that gives them confidence to take action while a responsive tactic is arranged.

You don't have to copy all communication but instead use it for important info like flag burns, armor locations and squad wipes.

I still think the team needs to stop focusing on winning games even in leg 2. Just keep this momentum up and the winning will happen, these are all small steps that when mastered or repeated enough times will put you in a place were game wins will follow.

What I really want to see is quick efficient practices, more team strats for all the maps, more time in game as a team, more focus on improvement on all levels and an environment were you are all enjoying what is going on.

As for me I need to work. I have very little strats knowledge for Terhan, Noshe and Karg (is Karg in the DGL ?) So I will catch up and check out more of these games.

Finally I was not comfortable in the channel when you played. I think it's best if I stay out when you play live games, you have the skill and teamwork to respond and I worry that I just add noise and confusion. I will still hang in the practice games were possible but honestly if you can achieve all these suggestions there is not much else I can do to help.

I reckon that it would be good for you to hang in the Mumble channel during games, even don't add to the noise levels by speaking. Your insights are invaluable, and listening to us on comms should help pinpoint weaknesses in our play. I often join the channel during matches to listen in on how things are going. I don't think that it effects anyone that I'm there?

I personally want to see more game-time - we're simply not getting enough of it as a team to drill and improve.

We need to finalize that we have the 3-3-2 stucture - experience now has shown this is our best structure.

We need to have flanking manouvers - we seem to be getting caught in the trap of fighting over a fortress and bleeding.

That said, we need to have two guys, one from two of the squads, not with the sole purpose of flanking, but with a keen eye for it who will take oportunities to do so often when it seems appropriate. I cannot stress the importance and advantage that a flanking manouver has given us in every game.

Definitely agree that we need to play 1 prac game a week in addition to our do gaming game. This week we don't have an official match so it is a good opportunity to get in 2 solid pracs

I'll try get us a game on Thursday and Sunday. I'm all for more matches and practice, but we need to get more guys to commit. So often we try and hold a practice with only four or five guys. If anyone is unclear, practice is on Tuesday and Wednesday at 8PM.

I agree with the flanking tactic, we've spoken about it before. SLs should be directing their troops then looping around the long way to either back rage a gaggle of dom noobs or provide a spawn point for their squad. It's just not happening.

The idea is to take a long route around so you have time to think and be able to make a call as to whether you should hold up and wait for spawns (squadies dead) or push ahead to either flank or get in amongst their back flags.

Hooah! As of now it seems the season is calming down at work, so my availability should get better and better. (Hold thumbs pls).

We have 2 weeks now to prac for FiB. We also have 2 more weeks of Mega being in town, so I suggest the top tjops ask him to coordinate resistance whenever possible and we get in some pracs vs nuts. Mega's input from a resistance perspective could easily push this team's awareness up a gear.

I would like to volunteer as a SL/flanker for upcoming pracs - it has been my role throughout BF2 and BC2 and i rate i could make a go of it in BF3.

EDIT: also, Miles, I think what Jarrod suggested is good: stay in Mumble to listen during matches as it helps with pinpointing problem areas in our comms.

Sorry about being late tonight (last night when you read this)- big juggle just to get a small amount of time, but I did at least get there even if it was brief.

Wednesday should be fine though.

Another apology for last night. I dunno what is was, but I was absolutely exhausted at the end of the day yesterday. I was in bed shortly after 8pm.

Unfortunately I have a work commitment tonight, so probably won't be able to make practice either. I'll try and shake it off early and get in for part of the prac at least.
