While we have a Teamspeak server, Teamspeak is NOT the best, in terms of quickly delivering orders.
Teamspeak has quite a lot of delay simply because of the way it works, it buffer captures your voice then sends it to the server that then does some processing and then sends it out.
All in all, even with a local server like we have, there are delays of between half and two seconds from sending a command to someone hearing it...for a high speed FPS game, we need quick communication.
Hence Mumble, now this works differently, as soon as you start talking the packets are being sent to the users in your group with the lowest possible delay.
I suggest we try it out.
Very simple, go download the mumble client from:
http://www.grrr.co.za/portal/index.php/downloads/
It's 15Mb or so.
Install it and create a new connection.
The Server IP is: 41.181.111.238
All the rest is default
Password is: grrr04n
Chose whatever name suits you.
Lets try it out ASAP.

Re: Mumble Server
I've tried it out with the Geeks. It is much better than TS - I did mention this to people, but I didnt follow up really. Mumble response time is quicker and has an automatic feature which slightly lowers in game volume when someone is talking, making it much clearer in a fire fight as well.

Re: Mumble Server
Lets get everyone in and give it a shot I rate.
I also have used mumble quite extensively and given the TS3 crashes that I have been getting, I'd love us to get into it.
Its also got a smaller memory footprint and a kief LCD applet for those with G15's.

Re: Mumble Server
We already had this discussion a few months ago, TS was agreed as our voice comms.

Re: Mumble Server
Murgs, if you read the thread, it appears that people have valid reasons to reopen the discussion...

Re: Mumble Server
hmmm, mumble? i might already have trouble mumbling(unconfirmed). but if everyone else likes it, i won't complain.
Re: Mumble Server
Well, there were a bunch of us on Mumble last night (about 8 or 9, IIRC). It worked well, and voice quality was considerably better than I've experienced with TS3.
IMO, it's a keeper.

Re: Mumble Server
for me, I'd have to agree, mumble did seem vastly superior
Re: Mumble Server
For those struggling to find a Mumble version that's overlay is compatible with Dx11, uninstall your Mumble and download the following: http://thetacteam.info/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1145
