BF3 league/Team

Post by Paul »

BF3 is HERE!!!!!!one1!

That means a league will be starting soon I am sure. I have already been invited by Infy to the DGL platoon, I am sure a couple of you have as well.

So that brings us to the crux of the matter, teams. How many, who is in them, captains etc.

I have been thinking about this and the best way to get a good team(s) but where people don't feel they have been cheated is to vote who should be in the 1st team.

Similar to how we vote for clan leader. I could just choose the people and put them into teams but I don't think that is fair and I might not get the right teams.

So I propose that I create a poll, with every member in the clan (even those that have not indicated they want to play BF3) and then each member gets 8 votes, they choose the 8 people who they think should be in the 1st team.

Then at the end of the voting I will take the 8 people who got the most votes, because this isn't a 100% democracy I will use my discretion with your council if I feel someone shouldn't be in the 1st team but I believe we will get a true reflection of the team.
If it turns out that the league requires 12 people then I will choose the 12 people with the most votes.

After the teams have been decided I will appoint captains for the 2 teams (assuming there are enough players) and create rules for participating , promotion and “demotion” between the teams. I am thinking that the poll should run for 3 weeks (maybe a month), that will give everyone enough time to squad with each other and make informed choices.

What are your guys thoughts?

Sounds good to me, but I bet you R50 that the poll and your gut choices will probably turn out to be one and the same.

I know it's a bit late (the poll is up already), but good call. I think though that you can't jut pick the top 8 players for the team in an 8 player league. We must make allowances for reserves (but being careful not to take so many as to ruin the chance of a second team. So, 10 people if it's an 8v8 comp. We should hopefully be able to pull together 2x10 player squads, especially with the new applicants that we're getting.

I posted in the other thread but I did think about reserves, the problem we have is say the 2 reserves in the 1st team but the 8 "core" players are available for all or most of the games and the reserves only get to play 1 or 2 games.

That might make them lose interest, get rusty etc and I don't know if it is fair. They could have had a whale of a time in the other team.

Like I said, I will get the votes in. Talk to the top 8 guys and see if they will be able to commit to all the games. Then go from there.

We also need to see the rules for the league. I am taking the clannies quite seriously this year, this is just the first step in the process. We won't be chosing 8 guys per team , send them out there and hope for the best.

There will be constant debate, communication, pracs etc between everyone who is involved in league clannies, no matter which team you land up in.

I'm sure if the community negotiates with league admins, we could have it so that Clans fielding two teams can have shared reserves...if you know what I mean. So that the reserves who are generally good players get to actually play rather than sit sidelined on a "just-in-case" basis resulting in fielding a second team that could have the benifit of using those very same talented players....know what I mean?

The problem is, if it runs like previous leagues, you can't take players from one team as reserves for the other. Team rosters are closed for the duration of each leg of the league. I'm sure that you will find players (myself included) that would be happy to be team reserve, even if it meant only playing one or two games.

That would be ideal, Lee, if they would agree to that. In the past, you could only belong to one squad - reserve or not.

Good idea Lee, let me talk to Infy about it. See if we can get an advanced look at the rules so we can make suggest.

But for now, we have some time lets see how things pan out in the next week or two.
