PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS

*disclaimer* This game is currently in early access and is unoptimized and pretty buggy. This isn't a hype train post. Purchase at your own peril. Also, you play on EU servers with 200 ping. It is felt a bit but still works as well as Overwatch or ArmA does on international servers.

The game is a Battle Royale styled mod which some of you may know. The guy this game was named after (PlayerUnknown) created the Battle Royale mods for the ArmA series and also for H1Z1. He then formed his own team/got hired by a studio and created this game with input from the community.

Basically everyone starts with nothing and you have to gear yourself up by looting and staying within the "safe" zone. Think Hunger Games.
There is solo, duo and squad modes with more being planned as time goes on. Remember its in EARLY ACCESS - downside is it may be unoptimized and buggy but plus side is its about R300 - a lot cheaper than most games these days.

I tried the game on my rig and it ran horrendously, so I requested a Steam refund - which I got. There are big strides being made with optimization and a lot of people are watching very closely.
In fact, almost every Youtube content creator and Twitch streamer is currently playing this game (LevelCap, XFactor, Jackfrags, Sacriel, Lirik, Cohh and more)

This video illustrates a few things exceptionally well:

1. How fun/intense the game is.
2. How good watching streamers on Twitch is.
3. How music choice can make all the difference in a vid.

I won't be buying the game just yet but apparently on the 20th of April the first very big patch is coming out with a lot of optimization.
I will be keeping a very close eye on this game.

This game does seem super fun, I like the fact that everyone starts off evenly. Not like Ark/Rust where you start as a naked dude and get pwnt by people with AKs.

PC Gamer did a podcast special on this a couple of weeks back. Sounds really good. Probably not for me, but that video makes me keen to watch it on Twitch!!

We are playing a mod on Arma 3 at the moment thats very similar and we playing it non stop. I will however look into this as it looks like great fun in itself.
