Wohoo - the mentions worked - message was sent to my new user and not to me, coz I created the post - also based on what threads you have permission to post in.

You put the @ sign in front of someones name in a thread (that they have permission to read) and it will EMAIL them to let them know they've been mentioned. Works with anyone on this site that has registered with a valid email address.
