    New Keyboard Suggestions

So about 18 months ago I got myself a razer Lycosa keyboard. When I opened the box I thought ooooh pretty. I plugged it in and it work nicely for about 3 or 4 months. Then it started acting up where I would press W for instance and even though the key popped back it will register as me still pressing it. Queue constant strafing. I would need to unplug and re-plug it in for it to work again.

This now happens every now and then, last time was at prac on Wednesday. Also the Ctrl and S keys have worn through, I had a generic keyboard before for 6 years and the letters were only starting to fail. The keys are also beginning to stick, I need to take it apart and clean it every 2 months.

SO what is this story about? Well I need a new keyboard and want recommendations. I can't justify paying R1000 for a Logitech G19 or whatever. My needs are simple. I don't need Macro's or Profiles or LCD displays. I want a NICE looking, backlit is optional, sturdy, responsive keyboard

I had my eye on these 2 Roccat keyboards, the one has all the stuff I also don't need but the prettiness is seducing me again

    All the bells and whistles

    Re: New Keyboard Suggestions

A keyboard you should also consider is the Microsoft Sidewinder X6. I had one for a couple of years and its a very good, sturdy keyboard. J0no is currently using it, ask him what he thinks of it.

    Check it out here: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en...er-x6-keyboard

The nice thing about this keyboard is that it's not full of unnecessary clutter. It's a fairly basic keyboard, with backlighting and a few macro keys. The gimmick with it is that the numpad can be docked on either side of the keyboard, or removed completely. It's a gimmick yet, but actually rather useful when you go to rAge, you can remove the numpad and had a smaller keyboard.

Typing on it fees good, tactile response is excellent. And it's not hugely expensive. R587 on takealot: http://www.takealot.com/electronics/...ista-7,4850271

    Worth having a look at.

    Re: New Keyboard Suggestions

    Hey Paul,

I would also suggest the sidewinder X6. like you I don't use all the fancy bells and stuff and the sidewinder is perfect for that. also a good quality product. Never had issues with it until there was some coffee spill on the num pad. the nice part is that the num pad is in the cupboard and the rest of the keyboard is still hundreds

Also I would recomend the keyboard I am currently using

    http://www.cyborggaming.com/prod/v7keyboard.htm

I have been using it since rage and I am still happy with it being money well spent. was more expensive than the sidewinder but I very nice product if you don't like the laptop like keys.......... Did a review on it not too long ago if you wanna check it out:

    Re: New Keyboard Suggestions

No offence, but any "gaming" class keyboard is over rated, if you want a good gaming keyboard get yourself the G19. Otherwise, I have found good quality Microsoft of Logitech standard office keyboards (no bells no frills for about R200 each) works great. My keyboard at the office (which I've bought myself after I gave the office their wireless keyboard back) is a logitech delux 250 (think I've paid R200 for it) and I use it for 8 hours a day solid typing. The print on the numbers and the letters are coming off already, and still not one single problem with it.

If you are talking responsiveness, see if you can beat this record here which I set with this R200 keyboard and an el-cheopo i3 laptop.

Stop looking for all the bells and whistles you find in these fancy keyboards, if you can not afford the G19, get yourself a R200 business type of keyboard, they do exactly what they say on the package, they just work... if you really want a "gaming" class keyboard, safe your money until you can afford the G19.

    Just my R199 opinion

Ps I am quite hard om my keyboards as I do type a lot of kak when I want to...

Scientific fact, dried testicles of rhino poachers can cure aids.
