I have a challenge with Tuesdays unfortunately as I have my training on Tues (Full Class) Wed (Private Class) so Tuesdays are not the best days for me. I am willing to put as much as possible into this.

So one day a week is suitable I will let Shady through out some alternatives.

Thanks for posting this look forward to getting the practice days nailed down.

Stu has said he can practice on Thursdays. Since the rest of us said that day was cool, then Thursday is new official practice night.
Therefore, no practice tonight guys.

:jig:

I almost thought that this time round it was going to die again... Thank u Sheri / Jarrod...

I will speak to Toppie again , and see what I can get organised. As for the advice SloDaz has given , i agree... Unfortunatly we will be stepping into a game that has been around for awhile , so we will have to face some okes that are realy pro... but basics like Dazzie mentioned in his post , should give us a fair chance.

I also think that we should aviod the open-servers , and play only on the PROMOD (a quick game on the open-servers every now and agin for fun is ok) but we need the prac and only the promod will give us that kind
of experience.

Sheri , im always available to help u , no matter what. If RL has u tied down , call me and i will step up and get thing organized for u.. i really do mean this , i will be there if u need me.

So thats one to little for a good game of strip poker but to many for a swingers party, so i guess its "game on - see you on PROMOD"

NB to log into TS before you join... that way we gang up on the others and have 0.5% of a chance to poon them.

Some quick tips...

* at the start of a round on PROMOD, it is normal that only a few get connected before the game starts. So always say yes to a quick knife or pistol fight. Of late i was trying to practice the knife/pistol, so when the server is down to 5 ppl, i always ask for knife or pistol fight. There is def a trick to becoming a good knife killer.

* Never shoot unneccesarily - in all my games, it gave my position away and i was dead 1 sec later.

* Most guys on the server change thier nick a lot, which is fustrating coz just when you meet a good guy (no i am not gay) then they go and change thier nick

* always crouch and make yourself as silent as possible... if these guys can hear you coming you are dead

* if you are planting and the only one left/or dont have protection - do a false plant (stop pressing F) and aim for the most likely attack point. Usually you need to do this twice - coz everyone knows that you false plant at least once and most experienced guys wait until you are planting before killing you

* if you are protecting the planter, throw smoke around him. This adds more protection and tends to expose the attackers who have to shoot through the smoke

* I tend to wait 3-4 seconds before moving out. Most guys on teh servers, know exactly where to throw the grenades and i have found that this gives me more of a chance - so basically i dont do any rushing

* if you spot the sniper - dont try to take him onfrom afar - you will loose

* if you are defending. get into postion and dont move. Rather let your attackers expose themselves - making noise or such. unless you are last man standing. Then is make or break time - you either become the hero or the guy who tried and failed

* dont talk to much on TS - the map is full of sounds and it is important to know when the enemy is creeping up on you

* dont takle the comments to heart - i have team killed and been lashed by the guys. Thank goodness there is no way of punishing - otherwise

I have to agree completely with Paul here. This game was chosen as a competitve option by the clan members, not by the admin team. At the end of the day, it's the responsibility of those clan members to make it succeed.

This responsibility falls doirectly on the shoulders of the following members, who chose COD4 as their first or only choice of game to represent the clan in:

Call of Duty
Dragonne (first choice)
Shadey (first choice)
Ossy(First Choice)
Jackal(first choice)
Icenflame (First Choice)
SloDaz

There are six names on the list. With the exception of genuine RL reasons (travel/unbreakable engagements/Technical issues), I expect all people named on this list to make themselves available for practices at least once a week (seems like Tuesday is the chosen evening - any objections?) and also a match once a week (typicaly match days are Sundays).

If anyone is not prepared to commit to this, now is the time to say it.

As for recruiting, we need to try and get Toppie more involved if possible. He's agreed to merc for us, would be nice to get him into our practice routine. Iggy/Jean can you have a word with him and see if he's still keen?

The only other thing that I want to say on this right now is that I do expect things to wind down over the next couple of months, as the holiday season arrives. I still expect commitment from people over the next couple of weeks, so that we can sort out a framework for competitive COD4, but certainly expect official practices to be suspended by the end of November, until mid-January.

Until then guys, lets please put in as much effort to this as Sheri is currently. It's not fair for her to have to do all of the work, and get little assistance from her team.

Also, let's please obey the public server guidelines posted in another thread. Above all, join TS before jumping on a server to play. It gives us a chance to launch an impromtu practice at any time. There is no excuse not to do this!! If your TS isn't working for any reason, then get it working! You need it to play clannies anyway, so get it sorted now.

Enough rant, let's get on with the game.

Paul wrote:I know I am not participating in COD but Shadey you have to be strict and lay down the law, you must insist on having commitment and enough players or don't do it at all.

Otherwise it will just make you disheartened and that will achieve nothing. My 2c

I totally agree with you, Paul. That's why I started this thread. It doesn't help for me to lay down the law and be strict to people that don't really want to play anyhow.

Also, Icey is right... we won't be able to recruit CoD players if our clan name isn't even recognized. Additionally, I don't just want to recruit random players into grrr. I like how our application process works now. We're a unique group of like-minded people and I'd like to keep it that way. So to me its rather odd to head-hunt an oke and say "Hey, you're a great player, would you like to join [grrr]? If so, please submit an application and we'll see if you are voted in."

If I'm going to run with CoD, I need the following:
A group of 5 members that will commit to the game, a couple of reserves in case of absences. We can reduce it to one practice night a week... how does Tuesdays sound? Ideally, I'd like 10 CoD players so we could have decent clannies grrr vs grrr to test strats/techniques.
I'm ready to commit 100% and expect other members to do so as well. Maybe it's just my personality type, but I'm not one to go into something half-assed - especially if we are going to be competing. Therefore, if I don't see the dedication of other members, I'd rather can the whole thing.

Thanks for the msg Shady, I will be adding more servers this evening and hope on for some gaming. I know I have not been available as of late and I can only commit to one practice a week. If this means I play as reserve then that's the call.

I believe we do have the chance to cement [grrr] into the CoD realm. Even if its till MW2 breaks. Its important that we try build a core team. I believe we would have to look at recruiting new members into the fold when it comes to CoD so I would have to agree with oZzy we may have to consider bring in a player or two.

But we can only do that by getting known in the community.

We just currently cannot sustain enough active players it seems there is interest but due to lifestyle restraints it does hinder the process some what.
