Discussion started on the shoutbox on what to name our server. Lots of differing opinions. I want you to put your suggestions forward in this thread and then we will vote. Suggestions must be bolded.
Post your thoughts on naming here too if you wish.
This needs to be done soon.
Current name thus far:
grrr-Squad-TBags-R-Us-Server
I know this is who we are but in a lot of players eyes (and sponsors), teabagging is considered derogatory. It won't be a kickable offence, but I don't think it should be in the title. We are a fun group of professional acting people. My 2c.
My suggestions:
[grrr]-Squad-Conquest-Large
Can be changed depending on game mode. Plain and simple.
[grr]-Squad-Mixed Modes-Large-Specs+Comms
More suggestive on the "extras". Might be a be lameee though.[grr]-Squad-ConqLarge-Admins|Commanders|Spectators
My personal favourite.
[grrr]-Squad-BF4-Server-PULL-IN-BRO
Something more fun maybe? I don't know.

I think we need to include "Public" in there somewhere so that people know it is open to all or am I being redundant. I would go with
[grrr]-Squad-Conquest-Large

They all sound good to me. I'm not particularly concerned about the name, but I do think that if we want our server to become a chosen place for South Africans to game, we need to ensure a couple of things:
1. The server always has people on it. I'm not sure how the likes of BMW does this, but I suspect that they have people idling on their servers all of the time. Servers that are completely empty will disappear quickly off the server browser
2. Policing. We need to be sure that we uphold a good standard of admining on the server. That means not does what BMW does and kicking/banning people arbitrarily, but we do need to have some kind of review process for dealing with potential hackers. And an appeals process for anyone that does get banned
3. Publicising. We have Code4 TV as well as our two procasters to spread the word. Perhaps we should do things like having the play of the week on our server only, and give prizes? Have themed events on the server regularly to which the community is invited?
Assuming that we do manage to make our server the place to be, we also need to implement some kind of player slot protection for clan members. Ultimately this is our server, and we should never be in a position that any of our clan members can't get on to it.

My two cents, I personally don't think the name will make that big a difference to attract the people or not. If we want to get the NAME out there, then you would rather want people to speak of "GRRR"'s server, rather than some funny name that doesn't really "market" the GRRR greatness.
[grrr]
[grrr] Open Public Server
[grrr] Public Server
My examples above are simple, but if you think about somebody telling his friend, "yo dude, we've had a blast yesterday on the 'this-is-some-funky-server-name-not-highlighting-grrr-name' you should try and join us tonight", then I think the message will be lost. Rather just say "oh, dude, we had a blast of time yesterday on the grrr server." I recon that will do a lot more for brand recognition than anything else.
Regarding keeping the server full the whole time, the only way that will hapen is if the server is better and more friendlier than other servers. Better in terms of zero lag, better in terms of friendly guys that will squad up with newbies, better in terms of them not being randomly kicked because some clan guy wants to play 5 minutes and as a result my best buddy just got kicked. So, even though I agree that we want to have the server full the whole time, I do think it may be a bit much to expect a full server if we also then have reserved spots for grrr members meaning we will kick players mid game just because a grrr member wants to play for a quick 10 minutes. I know, I will get seriously pissed off (and most likely never join the server again) if I am kicked half way into the game to make place for somebody else.

Hey Guys my 2c. It doesn't really matter what the name is as long as the name doesn't ever change and the server is always open to the public. People tend to get favorite servers depending on availability and consistency and they will bookmark the name or save it as a favorite. And then lastly as has been mentioned, as long as there is people already on people will join.
