Goodness me, if FarCry 4 has dedicated servers, choices could be blured:

What could be a spanner in the COD works is that there is a game mode for Search and Destroy without exo-suits i.e. the same old COD MP mode that they've been playing for years (and of little interest to most of us I think?)

Personally, I think that something like uplink would be an awesome competitive mode, could introduce some real flowing gameplay and strategy. However, I'm sure that the stalwarts of CoD wouldn't go for something like that - not predictable enough.

COD will be very much like Quake, kills count more than getting A,B and C flags. The game play will be extremely fast.

We can get a team together to compete for rage 2015

BF5 has a pending set date for Q3 of 2017 and hell no am i playing hardline.

How do you know this? Why would they not go with the same old S&D mode that has been competitive COD since COD4?

I'd love a fast paced flowing game mode (like uplink), especially with the exo-suits to make for fast and dynamic plays, but I can't see it happening.

EDIT: Regardless of competitive mode, I'm sure that CODAW will be a blast on the pubs, especially if there are a few grrrbians to jam with. I hope that a few of you are going to get this game and give it a go.

I was watching it on twitch, the game play looks super fun.

Anyway, so in the usual, expected, tradition of game breaking news, it would appear that CODAW is deficient in dedicated server options.

I installed the game last night (an hour and a half to install from disk, plus an additional 2.5GB of updates), but didn't get a chance to play. Had a brief look at the MP launcher this morning before work, and I only had the option to 'Join Game', followed by picking the game type. It then started searching for games... i.e. no server browser, it looks to be entirely peer-to-peer.

So, if you're thinking of this as a competitive option, we'll need to see if there is a dedicated server option added later. Given that Ghosts never had one, I'd be surprised if they add it to this game.

I reckon I'll enjoy the game regardless, purely for pub fun (and the SP campaign looks quite decent too), but I don't have high hopes at this stage for it's competitive viability.
