Re: Sunday 29th January : RFH or some other suckers
We had 7 grrr and one merc, no strats or prep and it showed. Yesterday morning we only had 6 people signed up.
One major gripe:
============
A couple of times we had a clear directive given by Stef, only for team members to shout it down and do their own thing. Chain of command has to work during a match. The time for disagreeing with strats or questioning kit layout is in the forum thread in the week leading up to match. Granted we didnt really have one for this match, but when we have 2 or 3 people arguing with the team captain whilst we wait for the countdown to go live, things are bound to go wrong.
No, because he wasn't allowed to do his job in game. Stef has the responsibility of picking the team, assigning roles, and composing strats. Trying to do this in game whilst he's got guys 10 years older than him who have been in the clan for years running their mouths makes this close to impossible. You don't have to agree with the orders you are given, you just have to carry them out or die trying.
Bottom line: you can't put the responsibilty on someone and then take away their executive power.

Yea look everyone has a bad round, dont need to be sorry for that.
But the defeatist attitude mid game, and the associated comments must stop.
The lack of preparation must stop.
We need to practice
But come guys everyone should be available from 7pm every sunday thats not hard. Unless you are dying, or are stapled to some who is dying
And a full proper practice at least once a week!
We lack cohesion completely.
Those oks last night were just well drilled and worked together.
When they attacked a flag they waited till they had players at every attack point, and then they moved in.
It was effective and powerful.
We have yet to co-ordinate like that.
Lets practice it, lets do it!

Agree to disagree. Hubris has all the power and respect he needs. But as a team we must al be on the same page. Discussing a strat before a round and agreeing on it is not a problem. If it had been during the round then I would agree with what you say.

Re: Sunday 29th January : RFH or some other suckers
Eish guys, sorry to hear it was rough and that I wasn't there.
I only got back at about 5 on Sunday from my hiking trip away.. I already mentioned last week that I might not be able to make but did jump on mumble as soon as i got home to confirm that i was in no state to play.
Regarding the above issue, Hubris was nominated and agreed upon as captain. We need to let him call ALL the shots in a match, this is the only way to ensure a consistent game played on the same page by the team.
Lets learn rather than slander. Keep pushing.

Echo's comment who filled in for us who has never played with us before.
"We were running around like a bunch of headless chickens..."

Re: Sunday 29th January : RFH or some other suckers
Let this be a wake-up call for everyone. We have talented players in the baggers team, but that means shit in the face of well co-ordinated opposition.
Not sure how, with a team of 11, we only managed to get 6 people signed up for a clannie up until a day before the game - especially with the league starting next week.
The issue where 8 players all shout up strats on the fly is not a new one to grrr, we've suffered through it before. It's piss poor, we have a habit of losing discipline and focus as soon as we're not romping through the opposition.
The only way to address this is with discipline, a proper command structure on the field (that is rigorously adhered to), and forward planning that has everyone knowing their role and responsibilities prior to the game.
Blame for the lack of strats/practices ahead of time can only be laid on Hubris. As team captain, it's his responsibility to ensure that all practices and planning are arranged as required for each game. Sorry mate, but you let your team down there.
As for the lack of people signing up, well responsibility sits with those people that didn't even respond to this thread. I know I've only gained sight of this board today, and thus have no context to this game, but reading through it I can only see a noticeable lack of response from the players that couldn't make it - Lee being the only exception. Everyone else, that's not good enough.
If people are not going to be committed enough to this team that they read the forum regularly and respond to match scheduling, then they shouldn't be in the team.
Hmmm, just noticed that the sign-up thread for this game was only posted on Friday, and by Paul because nothing had been posted before by Hubris. Steff, when was this match arranged? If it was last minute, then we should rather have said no than playing half-arsed. If it was arranged before, the refer tho the previous comment on strats/practices.
Very disappointing.

Re: Sunday 29th January : RFH or some other suckers
Ok we have been through this and everyone is aware. We made these notes after are last clannie. So that is why I created the Go Time thread
http://www.grrr.co.za/forum/index.php?topic=2781.msg45797;topicseen#new
This is it, from now on all matches counts and thus the commitment is needed
