The nutz had a practice session tonight, but from all the people committed to playing, only Ice / Fly and myself was online at the predetermined time. As such, it is clear that trying to get everybody to commit to the league, let alone practice sessions will be a real hard call. I will much rather suggest we withdraw the nutz from the league but be "available" for ad-hoc clannies and be cannon fodder for the baggers. Hell, some of the Nutz can even offer to assist the baggers with strategy session etc.

Paul, can I ask that if you are in agreement with the above, that you please cancel the Nutz from the League rather than making GRRR's name gat by not giving competition clans a fair go, or worse, not being able to field 8 players on game nights.

I've invited the Nutz to air their views as well, likewise, if the Baggers believe this is the wrong approach, let me know.

I agree with Denis, I'm sorry to say. we don't have enough committed players to compete in the league. For example, getting Ecko as a merc is a great idea, but he's already said that he has time contraints once his classes start (whatever they may be).

I've made my position clear, weekend evenings (including Sundays) are a no-go for me while I'm spending three days a week in JHB. I can play the substitute role if someone can't make the game on a Sunday, but I don't want to be playing every week. This makes me useful as a number for the baggers, who need committed players at this stage.

Paul, we should pull the team before it's too late.

Damn this is sad to hear as I am sure there are guys who were itching to play.

Lets hear the views of the other Nutz, I will make the decision today whether or not too remove the nutz from the League. Denis's opinion carry's a lot of weight , as it stands I am inclined to retire the Nutz from the league. The rest of the Nutz will have to convince both myself andd Denis why this shouldn't happen.

unfortunately I agree with Dennis, we discussed this last night on TS. As much as I would love to give other teams a real bagging, It does seem like it will be a real challenge to field full teams consistently.

I read the Nutz retirement thread first and was angry that the team was being pulled. Now that I read that only 3 people showed up for the prac I see the motivation for pulling the team.

For what its worth, I am saddened by the lack of enthusiasm and commitment and I support the move to withdraw the team.

Yea its sad news guys.

Why are the people so not keen. I mean i understand some have other commitments and things, but surely there should be possible.
What the reasons?

@QB - My take on the reasons. Please note that the below is not necessarily how I feel, but rather the results of thinking your question through.

1. Clearly, the best players and the most committed players in a clan are most often one and the same. By splitting into an A and a B side, we would naturally take the majority of the most committed players into the A side.
2. When left with the prospect of playing for the B team, I'm sure a lot of players would immediately suffer a little drop in commitment. After all, the B team is unlikely to win any honours, and facing a lot of very tough games will put some people off
3. We never really had enough players to field two teams plus reserves. We could probably get away with less reserves in the Baggers due to the fact that the players are more committed to the game and the team. The same can't be said for the Nutz
4. People like playing with the people that they regularly play with. Using myself as an example, when I play on the public servers, most of the grrrbians that I'm on with when I play are members of the baggers. There are a couple of exceptions of course (Fly comes to mind most readily), but I very seldom play a public game with the Nutz players. As such, I'm more familiar with and committed to the Baggers team than I am to the Nutz, a team made up of players that I hardly ever play with.

That's my opinion on it all anyway.

I know I personally wouldn't see this as a reason not to compete. Hell, the baggers are not expecting to beat FiB and sG eta al, but the point of playing is to have fun and enjoy competing in the league.

Pity the nuts can't find the time to compete properly. I'm sure many/all of them actually do want to compete, but life and other things get in the way.
