I second Ion, as well as nominate Phatso. I also rate LEP would make a Leg-Ended Cap.
I have not outright declined, but I don't know if I'd actualy be of any use this time round - work n the likes.

Slodaz Has not indicated he will be playing
Jono Already declined
Lee
Ion
Phatso
Lep

Dazzie will be playing, but with his family commitments set to escalate quite dramatically in the coming months, I would suggest that this is not the best time for him to take on the mantle of leadership of our main BF team.

Also, it is my very strong opinion that we want to have a properly defined "first team" for BF3. We did this in BF2 and it worked, so we should definitely consider doing it again if we want to be even remotely competitive in BF3.

As such, the team leader for the first team needs to come from one of the players that will definitely be in the the first team i.e. one of our better players. On this basis, I'd suggest that the following people would be eligible (based on my my picks for our first team - feel free to disagree):

* Lee
* Jono
* Phatso
* Paul
* Hubris
* Nomad
* Voetsek
* Murgs
* Fly

I've deliberately left out Mega because he's out of the country most of the time, and really shouldn't be leading the team. However, he should definitely be available as a first team reserve for when he's around.

If this is our starting point for our first team, this leaves the following people for the second team:

* Drags
* Shadey
* Lep
* Slodaz
* Cr0n0s
* Jackal
* Onyx
* Skouperd

Apologies if I've left anyone out.

Now, I'm sure that skills, preferred roles and commitment levels might mean some changes to this team structure, and that there will be some promotions/demotions between the teams as time goes by. But I do believe that this is a good starting point. We'll also need to firm up our teams a little with a couple more members. Ideally we need at least 10 players per team (based on an assumed competitive structure of 8 players per team, with 2 reserves).

Now, as a self elected member of the second team, I'm not going to propose a leader for the first team. That's up to you guys to decide. However, I would like to nominate Ion as the team captain for the second team. He did a great job as a team leader in BF2, and if he's prepared to continue that I'd be very happy to play in his team in BF3. If he's not keen, I'd nominate Skoups or Shadey.

This might comes across as harsh but please bear in mind when accepting or declining nominations that the Team Captain may or may not form part of the team.

This year I realy want us to compete well, that means choosing the best players who are also constantly available for pracs etc. I consider myself an average player and there are at least another 8 member who could perform as well as me or better in a clannie so if I were captain I may or may not choose myself to be in the squad for particular clannie.

The captain needs to recognise what is the best possible combination for a match and choose players based on skill, current form and best combination with other players. Being Captain could very well be a thankless job and I will be depending on him/her greatly.

I will also be involved with the formal comps and we will have debriefings after every game with the team so that we can all progress and hopefully return to glory.

Hopefully we will also have numerous friendlies so that everyone can get a taste of clannie action but for the formal comps I am going to be a bit anal.

Having said that, here are the list of Nominees so far

Nominees

Lee
Ion
Phatso
Lep

Only read Jarrod's post now, I was not sure if we had enough players for two teams. I have a bit to think about and will post here later today

tbh I dont mind where I am put but would really like to contribute in this era.....

From previous experinence and as Drag also mentioned a minimum of ten people would be needed to run a 2nd team even if the main 8 is very comitted, rl does tend to creep up on a person and also there is 9 people listed for the 1st team which should ideally also have 10 full time players

If we don't have enough players for two teams, we need to get a few more players. BF3 is the new big thing, and we have a lot of people (most of the clan) who have already indicated that they are going to want to play competitively. In order to do this we are going to have to field a second team.

I know that [grrr] has never been about active recruiting, and I don't think that we want to change that now (with the exception of a few key individuals that we know will be a good fit to the clan and/or already hang out with us on servers and in real life). As such, I suggest that we find a few likely candidates that we could approach to merc for us in the short term, preferably people that we might like to see join the clan at a later stage (after all, it worked with Phatso ;) ).

I spoke with QB while at rAge, and he's confirmed to me that iB are no longer. he said that he wasn't sure if he'd want to compete in BF3, but has said that if he did decide to play, he'd come to us first. If we can collar him, hopefully we could persuade the other two amigos (Flanders and Croglet) to join the fun too...

I've also got a feeling that 8 vs 8 is not going to be the standard format guys.

12 vs 12 seems more likely IMHO

The one thing I learned from our BC2 clan matches, was that having the same people who are play every week together, is better than just picking the best players.

And regarding who is in which team... well, I think there might be a couple surprises about who performs better in bf3 than they did in bc2. In bc2 we were pretty much all infantry... in bf3, we are going to need vehicle whoring experience as well. Personally I plan to play infantry and armour and possibly pilot the choppers but have no intention of getting in the jets. The action is on the ground and that's where I want to be.

I would like to say I am very happy to see so many Grrrians moving on to BF3. I am really looking forward to playing this game very regularly with you all. And I like the idea of two teams. If all of us are able to play competitively, I think it will help the clan, compared to having one team and some people have to sit out of the match process due to our subjective process of picking the "best" players.

Edit: I think Lee is right. Expect 12v12. Rats. That spoils everything. Quick... recruit those three guys! Flanders and I can toob together (although the BF3 toobs suck imo).

We'll definitely need at least 2 reserves per team. If the format is 12 v 12, then it seems we'll be stuck with 1 team unless we get some new recruits asap.
