No drive, no support and no love
Yar - I think the website should definites be used more. I have the keys to the castle somewhere, and if I can actually get some free time from work, can look at tweaking layout and information flow to make it more so. Personally, I can't keep up with the banter on the whatsapp channel, it's just waaaay too much comms for important grrr stuffs. Can't fault the convenience though!

By the way I found this cool app which lets you perform payments among friends. May be useful for fee collections.

A quick question regarding the finances. Lets not be oversensitive about this topic please.
Who decides how the slush fund is spent?
It was my understanding that the founders discuss this and make a decision together.
I heard recently (and it may be BS..) that the slush fund was spent on the travel arrangements for the DBN Weekend.
Now while I am certainly all for the fund being used for clan activities, there were many people that can't make the DBN weekend specifically because of their financial situation (myself included).
My question is why wasn't the fund made available for all to offset travel costs? While the fund obviously cannot pay for everyone's flights, surely it must be used equally among those that contribute?
I am not asking for a hand-out and I admittedly haven't contributed in a while. But hearing that ones contributions are being used to benefit a few and not everyone isn't a good way to ensure payments.

Hi Phats,
I was told when appointed that the clan leader decides? Not that the DBN trip was actually my decision or that I plan on making any on my own. If I plan on doing something out of my own accord it will be out of my own pocket. There was polls up and this is what the majority of people has decided they can/want to attend. Have also from the word go indicated that we can try and assist financially to get people to attend (which is the plan) because the more the merrier.
As it stands no money has been spent YET using the slush fund. I have however from my own pocket paid the accommodation already, which I am not planning to claim back from the clan. Also have offered to use my car to drive down to DBN and most people attending from JHB is driving down with me.
I have pulled a rough budget and the majority of this is to cover traveling and assist with the plane ticket costs. And then there is money for some food and drink including one activity (UShaka) entrance fee. All of these are from before last year Nov btw.
Refer to the first post in the below link where I have clearly stated that if someone is constrained that they need to let me know AND WE CAN MAKE A PLAN.

You haven’t contacted me to discuss something along these lines?
If this is the case, I still have 1 spot in my car to DBN and I believe Lee still has a spot at his place?
If the trip budget stays the same you will need some food money and some for entertainment?
Everyone had a fair chance to sign up. Should I rather cancel the trip and then nothing happens ?
Don't have a problem with you asking the question. Do however have the right to be irate that you ask it now(3 weeks before the trip) when this has been in Grrr space for months.....

On a side note while we are on the topic of the slush fund:
I have already done the recon on the account focusing on last year in particular. I have sent this to J to verify and post if he is happy.
Was planning on discussing the budget with J once he has had a look at the recon.

Thanks for the response Ion. I am not asking why I wasn't involved in the trip or where all the plans were discussed.
I obviously know about the trip and am sad that I cannot make it (financial and other reasons). I responded in that very thread that I would not be able to attend.
I am also one of the few people that visits these forums every day. I may not post, but I certainly keep my finger on the pulse.
I am stating what I had heard from clan members. If people are irate and upset about a matter concerning the clan as a whole, I am going to raise it.
I only heard the story a few days ago. It hadn't come up before that.
Again, I am not able to attend irrespective and mentioned above that I am not asking for a hand-out.
Its awesome that you are contributing as much as you are and I wasn't fully clear on this. Good on you.
Of course I am not asking to cancel the trip, its epic that something is happening away from Gauteng.
I am happy that the clan leader decides how the funds are spent, it was simply my understanding that the founders discussed this as a whole traditionally. If this has changed, all good.
Bottom line is this, there are members in the clan that had heard that the slush-fund was paying for the DBN weekend. Obviously this could not be completely true, but I thought it the right thing to bring it up here as I myself was also curious. I am not as upset as the members were but I preferred to bring it up here so that there is clarity. Wasn't a jab at you or your leadership.

Didn't think it was anything like thatPhatso wrote: Wasn't a jab at you or your leadership.
Can you let me know who has been complaining so that I can possibly approach them in a nice way to clarify ? Either way, the slush fund might end up helping with the trip, but never paying for it as a whole. Everyone still needs to cover most of their own expenses. And most importantly, We need as much as we can save for Rage this year.
I have sent the budget for the trip to J and once he has had a look and approved I will post it here.
Can't help but wonder if the fact that we are busy trying to get the contributions on the forum and up to date has anything to do with the irate individuals.....

I can PM who was upset but in my opinion it might cause friction as its a sensitive topic.
I think the easiest way is to simply post a "state-of-the-fund" thread once Jarrod has gotten back to you. That will also help the newer members understand the importance and use of the fund.
So like fund has x amount, y is going to DBN trip and how its split, z needs to be raised for rAge. Something like that?
It'll be a good indicator of where we are and where we're going with regards to the slush fund
