True Denis, those achievements haven't been updated for over a year. We should probably remove them as they are pretty misleading.

Let us not derail this thread, but this is a bit of a sore point for me. I did not know that out of the 37 members we have, only 6 donate to the fund.
I will start up another thread to discuss this in the near future.

Kalgat, YOU ARE A LEGEND DUDE. Seriously man, words cannot describe how grateful I am. It solves the mystery of whether we will have a server or not.

Thank you!

*EDIT*
Moved this thread to a more private area.

J_Th4ng wrote:R2K will pretty much pay for a one year rental of a 32 player server. Given that you made the contribution, you can decide when we should have it live. I can pre-order now if you like?

The bigger the better seeing as its per person, are slots going to be required for spectators as well, otherwise I would say order it when we get the most bang for buck.

I agree with Irish that we need to be out there and we can do it a damn site better than =BMW= who i think have 3 servers atm and must be sponsored even though they act like this most of the time!

jarrod, do you need to pay monthly for the server or are there more discounts for once offs?

Most of them give once-off discounts for long-term payments - so far as I can remember

Ja, it's discounted for a longer term pre-payment. Also, as I do the payment off my credit card, I prefer going as long a term as we can, to save me having to refund myself every month.

Okay, I guess the question still remains. Should we go with 32 players, or up beyond that? I always enjoyed the SGS 44 player Urban server in the old days... ;)

Yea 44 player server might just be the sweet spot.
If it can handle.
Lets find out where BMW host there servers cause they always come up, and would be nice for our to be the same.
Perhaps its just a case of there server name strating with a B.

Wow thanks Kalgat!!

I shall also be making a payment to the fund when i can.

Hmm - looking at the Gameservers splurge - you PAY for commander and Spectator spots as player Slots - :yikes:

Bastards! Unfortunately there's no option really, AFAIK, Gameservers is the only place you can rent a BF server from.

Its like that at the moment for South Africa specifically. Seems only Gameservers provide servers in SA for BF4. (but Fragnet, Hypernia and a few others are available, but not locally)

Here is the kicker, I have it on good authority that it may not be like this forever. MWEB have exclusive rights to Gameservers and a certain other ISP does not like that..

Also, remember how badly the Gameservers servers ran BF4 on 64 player mode? Is this a sign of things to come? Maybe running with a few less players is better. 44 is a nice "sweet spot" so to speak of, but remember we need commander/spectator slots (or do we?).

So we are in a pickle at the moment, do we get into a 12 month contract at a discounted price when there could possibly be better options around the corner? Maybe I am being fickle and we should take the dive, but it would suck should a better provider come about shortly after release...

I don't know.. and sorry if i have made confusion here. I just want whats best financially and to make our buck go as far as possible, with good results. Maybe we should "test" it on a single month?

Kalgat, what are your opinions on server size, locale, players, spectators, commanders, terms etc? Its only fair that as the primary donator your POV is heard.
