I've tested the MAV and even with my shocking recon skills I was able to fly it pretty much as long as I liked as long as I was smart and patient. You can kill with it and the ping radius is smaller than the TUGS, but you get a more frequent spotting based on motion not sprinting (TUGS only picks up sprinting I think). You really helped in the last game by placing a TUGS in the area and I really can't think of anyone else who is as good at being schneaky.
My tactic was to fly it into a busy area, as high as I can control it, and look for a good spot low enough and I would park it. It spots while you play, so it could be great for the front of B when we attack and the back of B when we defend. I say use a USAS, place the dank, pick up a kit if you can, or just respawn as Assault. Why not even spawn Recon twice per round to place both TUGS and an MAV.
If you feel Recon is too weak, suicide. Makes perfect sense to me for the value of situational awareness and an extra paddle. You and Paul are meant to be a roaming reinforcement squad; but at some point we will need you to cover our defences most obvious flank route. So probably around the back escalators. I say USAS because it would reap in that area at the start, so you at least have a good chance of dealing some damage with the Recon kit. They'll run right into you and ... shotguns
Yes in every game I think its a good idea for the Assault players to stay in good cover and protect squadies. They can lend their weight on the push, but they really are VIPs, we can't have them going down all the time. They must stay up to heal, res and protect squadies in the fight. At the start, Paul should cover you while you place the goodies then the two of you are paddles for hire unless they can use the back escalators to get in behind us (RU side when holding B on Metro only).
