Although this looks promising, I can't plough my time into more than 3 games at a time.. Lest I wish to suck at all of them.

(does look good and hit-reg that works is ALWAYS a winner-wena)

Ah Jarrod.. you HAD to play that card :( My rubber arm is being twisted inside out right now..

I have been trying to get into BC2 (again) and what about Vietnam? Bought that on a whim, love it, but I don't find a game often enough. Or is BC2 overs (once this little 4v4 league is done)?

Portal 2 in April, then Dues Ex HR, followed by BF3. (I have purposely decided to skip Brink and Duke Forever) ... Too many games dude. I like making purchases of games like investments. The longer I can play the game, the more likely I am to spend the dosh for it.

Will Homefront be the BC2 "temp-successor" till BF3? Or will people play it for a bit and go back to BC2?

*edit : FFS.. trailer feaver again.. The trailer looks too good. Fast paced, real weaponry.. Helicopters. Its screaming at me to get it.. hmmmmmmm

What Paul means is that last night the Vietnam server got going (it failed last week).

For me Homefront is (hopefully), the game to play until BF3 is released. Due to the lack of destructible terrain, and the fact that it uses the Unreal 3 engine and netcode, I think of it as a kind of BF2.5 i.e Better graphics and netcode than BF2, but missing the destructible terrain and OMG graphics of BF3.

Also, TBH, the fact that it has choppers but not jets works for me. I don't like jets in the game. I'm not a pilot, and avoided the Vanilla BF2 servers most of the time due a severe aversion to getting the shit bombed out of me every 20 seconds.

Homefront at the very least should have a decent SP campaign (the story is written by the guy who wrote 'Red Dawn', and co-authored 'Apocalypse Now'. MP looks to be decent too, I like the idea of the battlefield commander, the drones, and the fact that battlefield points should make rounds get more intense as they progress. Factor in a squad based structure (complete with VoIP), and an extended conquest mode (Three sets of three points. Cap all three points in a set, and the map area moves over to another series of three points. If you cap those, you win. Alternatively, the opposition could push you back again and then on to the three points nearest your base), as well as a 'normal' conquest mode and you have the makings of a decent game. There are also the usual ranking up structures and unlocks that go with it.

It's definitely wortha look...

Some dedicated server details:

* There will be no option to change spawn times or the weapons available to the players.
* No hardcore mode is included, so tough luck for the gamers who liked to kill and die quick. This is done mainly to preserve the competitive aspect. :wootdance:
* Servers will be able to run in ‘mixed mode’, which will alter the game-types of the server automatically.
* There will be a “Message of the Day” support, and the option to make servers private is also a possibility.
* Admins will be able to toggle auto-balancing on and off, force a player to spectate, and switch members to a team. Hopefully autobalance works in this game
* The dedicated servers do not required Steam Client to be logged in. :wootdance: LAN Servers are possible
* Developers are considering a patch that will allow a Ready-up Timer, Halftime team-switching/side switching and round numbers selection.
* For those who are interested in prematurely learning about the server variables, here they are:
o Server Name
o MOTD
o Game Mode (easy to have mixed mode)
o GC Score Limit
o TDM Score Limit
o Time Limit
o Internet (off for LAN)
o Vac Secured
o No of Slots
o Game Port
o Query Port
o AdminPassword
o GamePassword
o Friendly Fire
o No Vehicles
o Record Demo
