I'll get it.
I'm busy rebuilding the 7dana template from scratch...not an easy job.
basically so that we can have the exact same look and feel as current, but using SMF V2.0

OK, so it's way too much work to create a template (that works properly) from scratch and I've found some other problems with bridging and all that on my "test" system. I'm going to investigate SMF Tiny Portal, which apparently is an SMF mod that "acts" like a content management system for SMF directly, no bridging etc.
IE. SMF and SMF only (SMF is our forum software btw).
So, here i go with starting the setup again from scratch and looking out how to impliment it successfully and if it does what I want from it all.
Apparently the Tiny Portal system does like a front page thing, so I'll have a good look at it, it's a MOD that has been around for over 4 years, so it should be fairly robust and feature filled.
We'll see.... I'll let y'all know

1st step complete, redirector installed.
What does that mean?
it means if you go to
http://www.grrr.co.za you will be redirected to
http://www.grrr.co.za/forumI've now also uninstalled joomla - if we ever need it back, I've got meelions of backups anyway
I've offline tested TinyPortal and its actually quite good/useful.
I've done all the required manual editing of files to make it all work with our 7dana theme, so I'm good to go with getting it up and running.
What will happen is when we go to our usual forum, you won't just have the forum list and shoutbox, rather presented with the Article front page, this will confuse people at 1st, but it is a necessary evil
The frontpage article we can put a quick link to the forum list section, so there shouldnt be any major issues there.
Anyway, you will notice when it actually happens, I'll try @ 1st install it after midnight and without the frontpage implimentation so that it is an "invisible" change @ 1st, ie. install tinyportal, update config files, then configure tinyportal to load the forum layout exactly as it looks now, so that it doesnt seem any different

mmm, I seem to have found a way to load the shoutbox on the front page of the tinyportal installation..... so that could be usefull too.

As usual, the effort you put in and the results of those efforts exceed all expectations, Ducky. What a leg end.
