Just a thought guys, please can we try and inject some personality into the photo's. Giving them 'ID style' mug shots will be boring as hell. Try and use something interesting...

I'm not sure if they want the pic to be of each member alone, but I have a few shots that were taken with the family recently that I'll probably send to them. Specifically, I'm thinking one of the attached.

Why I am so happy to be part of this: It's a great honour to be the first SA clan to be offered an opportunity like this. I believe that we have a lot to say that will inform and entertain the myDL readers, and I hope that we can help gaming to be seen as more of a mainstream activity than it currently is in SA. We're all (relatively) normal people, with normal lives. However, we share an incredibly fun and interesting hobby, and we're part of a community that I think everyone will be able to relate to.

Gaming history Gaming since I was like a lightie. Got one of those rip off Nintendo 8-bit consoles, I think it was called a Golden China Entertainment system. Got a PC round about 12/13 and thus diversified into both PC and Console gaming. The last couple years though have been almost exclusively PC gaming. Only got into real multiplayer gaming in the last 4 years when I started out with Battlefield 2 on an IBurst (wireless) connection

I have no kids, no pets but my Fiancee would say that I am her kid/pet because lets face it, I am a lot of work

WHY I AM SO HAPPY TO BE A PART OF THIS Well I think this is the perfect opportunity to help demystify "The Gamer". To show the world as it was, that not all gamers ares nerd kids it coke bottle glasses and a soft drink addiction. We are way worse!!!!

Marital status: Divorced. I have 2 boys who love gaming as much as I do.
Gaming history: Been into anything that resembles a game since I was quite young (± early 80's). Got into gaming more seriously when I started attending informal LAN parties. Been playing online since about 2006 playing Guild Wars and subsequently moved onto playing Battlefield 2 from 2007. But the best so far has been being part of [grrr].
My Digital Life: I love the smell of new pc parts! I am obviously not as technically mined as the gents in the clan, but I make sure I have fun on the usual things like PC's, PS2, PSP, TV, Cellphones and XBox360 (Guitar Hero is the best).
Why I am so happy to be part of this: Being a female gamer is not the norm and it is often frowned upon when mentioned in the company of 'normal' people. This is a perfect opportunity to show how much fun this hobby can be (especially when part of a clan), no matter what your age or gender AND be proud of it.

Gaming history: Only recently discovered online gaming and being part of a clan community. I know that i will never go back to playing against the computer.
Why I am so happy to be part of this: I like the idea of being part of an online community (family) and above all, this really sounds like fun. At the end of a hard day at work, this is how i see myself relaxing. I love hearing the online chat beeping to tell me someone in the clan is keen to say hello. So i see this as an extention of what i already have in my online world.

For starters, my mother doesn't even have photos of me. But I did find this one on the company’s intranet. I’ll see tonight if I can find any others.

Why Skouperd: It was my nickname from school which I earned during a cricket match in which I was run out. Since then, I've been using it online wherever possible.

Family: Engaged

Gaming history: I've started gaming in the mid 1980's on an old AT computer with a single floppy drive. Over the years, I've became more and more involved with online gaming. My preference remains racing games, strategy games and first person shooting games.

Top gaming achievement: I am currently ranked number 1 in South Africa with TrackMania as measured on skill points.

My Digital Life: Since my fiancée has a doctorate degree in computer science, I suppose I have a little bit more freedom with regard to electronics than most other people. To that end, I installed dual gigabit Ethernet connections in each room of my house; this makes it perfect for organizing small to medium sized LAN parties. Other electronic gadgets that you’ll find here is Lego Robotics, a Kindle, a Hava media box, HTPC, Home server, Smartphone, GPS and hopefully shortly, pending its release, an Apple I-PAD.

Why I am so happy to be part of this: I think DL is a nice vehicle to make the public aware that it is not just kids playing computer games, most of us have real lives, and busy schedules to attend to, but yet, we still haven’t lost our passion for playing games. Unfortunately most gamers are still being stereotyped as nerds or geeks; which I am hoping during the course of our interaction will show DL readers that we are indeed just normal people that enjoy gaming.

Alter Ego: Slipperyduck ( leelo on the battlefield )

Slippery who?: I've been online gaming since the first real PC online first person shooter; Quake, yes the first one. Back then I was a sneaky slippery player that managed to get away from everyone and I earned the nick "Slippery" which I later adapted to Slipperyduck. Once I found Battlefield however, some silly American had taken my beloved nickname, so I chose leelo, which is an abbreviation of my name, with a hint of Milla Jovovich's character Leeloo from 5th Element.

Family: I am Married, for 10 years nogal, with one boy (7 years) who is just like his Dad and loves gaming, especially the Lego (Batman, Starwars and Indiana Jones) Series all of which are on his own PS2. I'm a great supporter of gaming (in moderation of course) as it builds logic and problem solving skills, so I support my son gaming without hesitation, so long as we still do real life things like play cricket, go camping and visit friends and family, like "normal" people do.

Gaming history: I’ve been gaming since as far back as I can remember. Our household had the Atari console with Space invaders and Pong. We were fortunate enough to own a few of the ancient Nintendo handheld games, like Parachute, Octopus, Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Junior. From the birth of gaming on PC's with monochrome monitors on XT machines, to today's Mammoth number crunching expensive boys toys, I've been with Digital gaming from pretty much the beginning (Pong you beauty) and it will definitely outlive me.

Top gaming achievement: Becoming Part of the GRRR clan I would classify as being the ultimate achievement. I would go so far as to say that anyone can become a member of a clan, but few are privileged to join GRRR. I was fortunate enough however to lead the Clan in 2009 and by serving my role as leader for the allotted year and became an official founding member after the annual election process.

My Digital Life: Wow, we all live digital lives, many without even really acknowledging it. Just about everything in out lives now is digital. I've always been one to reach for the new tech, in fact it's a family thing, my brother, father and I are know as Gadget people by friends and family. I have a work Laptop, my Mega Gaming PC, a PC for my son, a Media Centre PC for my FullHD LCD TV in the lounge, EEE-Pc for my wife ("FacebookTop"), DSTv, DVD, surround sound, Digital HandyCam, Digital Camera, Digital SLR camera, GPS, Digital DJ equipment, Digital Synthesiser Keyboards, Midi Keyboards, etc, etc, the list can go on forever. I truely lead a Digital life, so much so in fact that, should there be a solar flare that wipes out electricity for the world, I'd be completely lost and probably go the way of the savages (Lord of the Flies) and steal Piggy's glasses.

Why I am so happy to be part of this: It has most definitely been a life long dream of mine to be a part of something special with gaming and indeed a digital life. As we as a clan grew, it had long been my ambition to grow GRRR from a mere gathering of online gaming friends into something more established and recognisable and I even went so far as to say "We are a brand and I want to grow this brand". Though my dream did not come to fruition during my term as leader, I think we have finally achieved something special, opening doors not necessarily for us, but for South African Online Gaming community itself. A much needed breath of fresh air into what was previously the domain of "outsiders" or the "uncool". I honestly believe that this is the most important milestone in South African Gaming history and I couldn't be more proud to be a part of it.
