Hey guys, sorry this work lark is keeping me extremely busy at the moment.
I haven't time to look at this properly now, I'll try and give a decent response soon.
However, a couple of comments:
QB, it is doable to calculate out contribution like that. however, I don't think that it makes sense to do it that way. The truth is that subsidies for rAge are not allocated equally to all. We do (and should) give more towards people who have to get up to [s]that shithole[/s] Gauteng from Cape Town/Durban than we do for the guys that live in [s]Scumsville[/s] Jo'burg/Pretoria.
R50 is not a lot to ask for from anyone. If it is too onerous for a member to make the contribution, they can always speak to one of the founders and we will of course let them stay as members without payment. However, this should be the exception rather than the rule.
Just my thoughts on the matter. I think that setting up separate funds for rAge and subscriptions would be a mistake.
Proposed New Clan Rules
Don't think you guys read what i wrote there properly.
We don't need two payments if we just structure the money use like i suggested.
With 25 active clan members expenses per person per year would be R202.40.
So a member not coming to rage, their remain R397.60 of the R600 they pay a year would not be used for rage subsidies.
That money would roll over, or could be paid back to them, or could reduce their next years contribution.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: Jarrod hadn't posted when i was writing this.
I agree with him that really the R50 and how it used shouldn't be a problem.
I also know that the rage subsidies are not used equally as those coming from far will benefit more, this was just an attempt to shield those not attending rage from not getting less benefit from the money.
In the end we gonna go back and forwards on this and we could structure this in many many ways.
The simple facts are:
We need contributions from all members.
We need to pay for expenses.
We need to subsidize those coming from far for rage.
We need to subsidize what happens at rage.
R50 per month regardless of what is used for or how it is used as long as we all get some benefit is all that matters.
And we all will benefit and do already with the website, ts server and so on.
That is the main take away from this and its how it should be seen.
In my opinion if any ok is gonna be "but it not fair i payed and i didn't go to rage and and and" is the kinda ok we wont to weed out.
And honestly i don't think many are gonna feel that at all.
I think they will all see the value in this, even if some decide it is not for them and move on.

Firstly, I love Jono's idea of a monthly TS get-together. It will help us all come together as a clan. I miss the smack-talk over TS!
Secondly, I understand where Geth is coming from in regards to the "clan dues". However, I think that we've outgrown that period of time where people contribute because they want to. I admit I've neglected paying anything to the slush fund this year. I only this month contributed the R150 suggested for rAge. For years previous, I was a constant contributor. I was contributing for the benefit of grrr as a whole. I wasn't concerned how the money was used because you are all my family. I thought the slush fund was to help our fellow family members in need... whatever that may be.
Obviously, with new members and such... the direction of the clan has changed. It is my opinion that a member fee must be initiated to cover costs. Really, R50 a month is not a lot. I agree that it is fair that people know what their money is going towards. Anyone with a brain will realize that there will be a surplus of cash. But people that are true grrr won't be bothered by that, right?
Anyway, I understand the need for us to recruit players for a certain game to keep the grrr name "out there". But at the end of the day, we must be careful who we give our tags to. I am proud to wear the grrr tag and don't really want to be associated with people that are going to make our name kak.

As requested, the following contributions have been received. I've taken data for three months, March, April and May. I excluded June because that's when the rAge monies started coming in.
J0nny: R600 - R200 per month
Paul: R300 - R100 per month
Cr0n0s: R300 - R100 per month
J_Th4ng: R200 - Once off
Onyx: R100 - R50 for two months
That's the total over a three month period. Also, Geth deposited R1000 a week or so ago.
Not exactly a massive volume of contributors...

I think popped R200 in recently, but have setup my monthly R50. Its not long to go before I can up it again, but things have been incredibly tight recently. And i am flying to Greece on Tuesday.
But I digress. I think this thread should hopefully go up this weekend QB. That way guys can think about it over the weekend.
