We have a recruitment plan (we’ve always had, but whatever). As it stands, we probably have the most complex recruitment policy in DGL, but it’s not actually about the policy, it never was. None of the naysayers are contributing anything material towards the recruitment plan or giving it approval. They just know they don’t want new people in the clan, especially if they are skilled so they stonewall it. But we can recruit all the n00bs we like, that’s fine.

Phatso, yes I’ve had fun here but grrr doesn’t have a monopoly on fun and real fun to me is winning. Thanks Mega that’s exactly the type of commitment I was hoping someone would say, but I still have an issue with the idea that a winning team is obtained at the expense of friendship. I have direct experience of this as I have played competitive sports at the provisional level, I’m still friends with them and, horror, we were selected on skill (must be lies).

Strong teams build friendship, where do you guys think you got what you have? If we don’t recruit there is no team, there is no sustainable grrr community. I don’t know what else to say to make it any clearer. I’m not saying open the flood gates and make them all top players grrr, what I’m saying is open the gates and filter out what you want, but do it quickly. Recruitment takes a long time, even if we had a year and an open base policy, it would be a tough task.

We can criticise bvd or whoever all we like, but at the end of the day they are a team who are winning and there’s nothing you or I can say to take that away from them. We could take a leaf from that book and compete with them in our own way, but no we’re too busy people politicking to try. Do bvd just recruit willy nilly? No. Do bvd just recruit based on skill? Mostly, but not exclusively. Winning is as much about team dynamic as skill and bvd recognise that.

grrr recognises that but it thinks it’s the only ones who understand, but it is grrr who doesn’t understand. Having a strong team is what makes the team dynamic work, which makes you win. Strength builds confidence and trust in one another – which are foundations for friendship. You will be recruiting till you are blue in the face to find a “friend”. “All star” teams fail because top players’ egos clash, but those are rare cases we don’t in fact qualify for.

In my view, grrr doesn’t really have a choice as to what to do, it can only decide on how it’s going to happen and get on with it or it’s game over. The whole poll thing is just an exercise in damage control, but while the attention is on that nothing is happening in recruitment and it just makes me angrier. In my view, the naysayers should contribute to fixing the recruitment policy or we must admit that there is no will to do so; then we can all move on on our own ways.

Yes I am frustrated because this is all on me. Its been that way since rAge, fuck it we're done with this it's your problem now and we're going another direction so glhf kind of thing. I have been wanting to leave for a long time, that's why I said yes to captaincy, so I could change things and potentially stay. But from day one it was clear I didn't have the ability/power to do that.

This is my last ditch effort to get some air time and make something happen. I made a decision to take the gloves off and get to the bottom of this issue right or wrong and I believe I have done that. We can recruit safely, but it takes so long to get approval, it feels like it will never happen. Maybe I am too impatient.

Yes you're right Dragonne but it feels to me grrrs plan is to put the decision out to poll without reviewing the policy and that would effectively manage me out effort free. Hardly a sincere approach, but at least it's pc and thats fine right? I swing between friendly and hostile because I'm frustrated with the pace of change and all I hear is no no no so I lost trust. Yes J0n0 what I said was said in anger and I don't believe it. I'm sorry I insulted you guys it was stupid and it isn't a fair reflection on what is a very well run organisation. You guys have made every effort to include me, listen to me and even gave me a seat at the table, I'm grateful for that. The ANC is another issue altogether, but the similarity I was drawing was with stubbornness. I feel like we have a working solution, let's go already.

I took a lot of time today to think about all of this and I see your point Dragonne, someone does need to own this and that person is me, so I'll get on with it and keep my middle class mouth shut lol :P

I dont see the complications here. I missed most of the meeting (sorry) but I dont see whats complicated about bringing new gamers in on a merc status for the team and if they get the nod, they can join the clan.

Tyger, I just want us to get more players in, play and act with a mind set to be in the top teams. If that's not the outlook then I'm not keen to play and might just stop playing BF3 in clan games, play for another team if I get on with them or just get over the gaming scene entirely. I don't have a problem with the people, but I am frustrated with them and I was angry because I felt like it is something we could do if we wanted it but people were just stonewalling what we need to do for that outright.

Sorry I already did fly off the handle... I'm over it now, it was offsides and there's no point in continuing my arguments. We're voting to see if people are keen for it. So ya lets see, but even if the competitive/recruitment idea is approved its not an easy task so it might not be practical to go for rAge anytime soon and it then it's just better for me to stop pushing. I just don't have faith in a team happening quickly and properly so at this point I'm favouring being a casual member only and letting 2013 be whatever.

If we get a good team together in time and we want to jam, then great I'll be involved in any way I can but I'm not going to commit to a team now that is going out there and its all for lols. I take competitive gaming way too seriously for that and I don't want the stress of making a rAge team happen next year against all odds especially with my neglected studies. Maybe 2014 grrr can go for rAge, maybe one day it can do well, but I don't think this 2013 team will work out that way so who are we kidding.

Stuff it man there's no point forcing the issue and getting worked up about it when no one cares about it anyway. Zero fucks given. It was stupid for me to want a rAge 2013 to happen. I'm sorry about all the drama, but I hope we will all just move on now to deciding what grrr wants and either building a new rAge team for the future or not so we can all just get on with what we want without all this pressure. Ok Wow, lots of posts flying around and I want to applaud Hubris for not holding back. Might have been a bit harsh but hey we aren't politicians.

My view is that grrr NEEDS to have a competitive team, how serious that team is can be adjusted to our ethos but it can't be as casual as it was in the past. I am not talking FiB strict here but in order to fulfil on Lee's vision (which most of I hope agree on) we need to have at least 1 high profile in DGL or the gaming world won't take us seriously.

It is also the best and most effective way to get publicity other than posting stuff on FB and twitter which relies on people actively going there. If you are in the DGL then people are almost forced to be aware of you.


Now having said that to have a realistic chance of being in the prem league we need another 2-4 GOOD players but players who will fit into Grrr. Can do this before the 2013 league starts? I don't know I am hopefully.

Like I said we need time lines, by 1st December do we re-evaluate and determine if we will enter because let’s be honest December is usually a write off with people away etc.

Or do we aim to have the team enter only in the second leg? Either way we need timelines so that people know where they stand and can make their decisions from there.

I agree with Paul - 1st December to get a Team together, a quality Team and we must compete in DGL and do well enough to be a High Tier Team as opposed to a second rate team.

There are a few things that I need to do - Just finding time will be my issue

1. The Recruitment Rules/Regulations/Expectations Policy Thread. I have been a bit busy, but we need this completed going forward.
2. What GRRR has to offer candidates, we need a way to illustrate all our offerings, BF3 Server, Forums, Article System, Tech support, Frontosa access, etc. . . please add more as you see it.
3. Agreement from Admin Team, this includes Hubris who has clearly stipulated his requiremt of a shortened recruitment period.
My thoughts on this are in creating a tag similar to [grrr] for short Term recruitment evaluation, like a hook to make the candidate feel semi-accepted already, something like [grri] (grrr intern?) it's quite similar, but also not quite. *feedback on this is required and some suggestions possibly too. We can then have the Initiate/Intern wear the [grri] tags within 3 days (qualifier) of creating a membership thread and can wear those for the standard two week period. - As soon as the candidate has qualified (3 days) we have an admin / recruiment officer meeting (Phatso) to discuss the fast tracking. IE. is it even feasable - has the candidate played in some practice/friendlies - who is vouching for him/her - etc. Any fasttrack must be fully supported by all admin and founder members.

Also, to tie into my vision, we need content - so I think an additional 'staff' title of "content provider" or something along those lines can be added. I've installed an additional awards system and you'll note that the Admin(s) 'staff' title has a robot icon in their postbit(postbit is the left hand side profile summary in forum posts: Avatar, Join Date, Points, Thumbs given/recieved etc.)

Currently I'm busy building a Stunner YouTube Video Intro in 3d, it will impress I hope, but it also takes time. I'm heavily flooded at work but hope to clear as much of it with serious blood sweat n tears in a week or so (not gonna hold my breath tho).

I'm trying my best to add as much as possible to our great little home, but I can't run everything (yet) so please be patient if at all possible, I know it's frustrating, but we all need to contribute as much as we can, things wont just come to us we have to make them come....

Let's try and help each other get the best out of what we have rather than subjugate ideas. This is the doldrum period for grrr - we see it every year and it always feels like shit and that nobody is interested in anything at all. Trust me, it has happened without fail since 2007. Having said that, we (us, the active'ish ones) need to get things done in this period and I think we are ontrack to do so, so long as we don't kill each other in the process. Hubris, we'll make it happen bro, we ARE interested, Drags means well in that this is a Clan born out of close bonds and doesnt want to lost that, but in the same token is not competing and we do need a team, so we have two sides of a coin opinions and they both have merit, remember though and I don't mean to be crass here, but he doesnt speak for the entire clan, he is part of it and is part of the culture and cornerstone of the clan, but by no means speaks for all of us. - I say this, because the friction is quite evident.

Bottom line, we don't want to lose anyone, I WANT a competitive team, I DONT want to lose the [grrr]X factor and prefer friends, we ARE going to make this happen and we are not sitting on a fence about it.

I like the idea of a intern grrr tag I would go with grrri or i-grrr (it is the apple generation). So you "Recruit" some one, ask them to start a thread, hopefully also talk on SB and then get their intern tags on.

Fuck I been reading this thread and wanting to reply...but not really sure what to say.

What is certainly evident is Steff is really not happy.....

I know you want to compete at the highest level and be in a committed team... i get that...but i am not sure i get why you are so uspet with the guys.
have you tried to recruit some people before and got told know by them... is that it?

I have some experience in playing with the best and being in fully committed teams.

No matter how committed the team you are in, it is always a frikken mission to get the oks to agree on times, be there on time, and to know whats going on.
this does not change. Trust me on that.
BvD has this problem too. At ASF we had it, when i ran iB we had too.
The differnce is that the BvD oks put in the effort in game, and the effort in thier own personal game.

We can make a success of getting grr to have a top rate competitive team, and you can be the spear head...but honestly expecting it to happen ina few short weeks is silly. Yes grr have had a recruitment process before...but this to my knowledge is the first time the clan as a whole is recognizing that if we want to continue on and grow the grrr brand we need a top rate team.

you cant rush that.

Honestly we have time until the DGL league starts next year to find and recruit good players.
I think the fact that we having these discussions is already a good start.

I want to play in a fully committed team..i want to compete too.
I will make the time as and when i need to make this happen.
I too get very mad as u have seen when i do this and other oks cant be bothered to do the same.

Lets give this the due time it needs.
We can find guys, get an impromptu team going and see from there.
