yes lets do it. I am experimenting with making a grrr mobile app for us, and dedicated server where we can run custom software could be needed.

Seems like a great deal IMHO.

Same company does Cloud Host - for R150/m you get full backup, 1Gb RAM, 20Gb storage and a whoping 150Gb bandwidth - so for R50 more you get a LOT more - still hosted in Capetown, I think that would be a better deal, will try find out if we could pay for a year (R1800 total) instead of monthly.

OK, I've chatted to the VPS guys - they can do the annual payment thing with us that gives us a 5% discount, this is great.
They also do the grrr.co.za domain lookup (DNS) transfer for free, this is also great.

Now we must sort out the rest. I think the HostingUnlimited account expires at the end of this month, if memory serves me correctly, so I'm gonna go ahead and see if I can pay for the Annual subscription and get our server ready and set up, I'll then ask J if I can recover the cost from the Slush fund.

Then it's on to awesomeness from there.

The slush fund stands ready to reimburse you. We need to check the contract with Hostingunlimited, I hope there's no notice period on moving. Will check and get back to you.

Here's something else to ponder, VPS guy is asking me what I want to call the server, ie. servername. We then have subdomains for www etc.

eg. teabag.grrr.co.za for the servername - then use http://www.grrr.co.za for the webhosting dns entry that we set up, ftp.grrr.co.za etc etc.

What do you think would be a good servername?
