Epic paintball game

Post by SoSheOhPathix »

There is going to be an epic paintball game played on 29th August for any Vaalies interested.
The doods have rented a scrapyard (yup, the entire premises), so it'll be a 'semi-urban'-esque battle between the towers of trashed cars, etc.

Anyone interested?
I can give you directions/GPS co-ordinates, prices, what's available there (gas, paintballs, rentals, etc.)

There am a facebook page about it too...

GPS Co-ords:
26°41'52.98"S
27°42'17.66"E

Corner of N1 and Potchefstroom road.

I don't think it's been used before... Someone knows someone that knows someone that owns the scrapyard. Or something like that.
We also use a farm out Centurion way, for bush MilSim (both day and night games), and a 'ghost town' out near Randfontein. Used to be a mining compound, long since disused, so that has buildings, bush, etc. Very suburban combat feel to it, in between buildings, sprinting across streets, lobbing grenades through windows... But those we only use when we organise 'scenario' games, like 'rescue the hostages', or 'sieze the arms cache', and can get enough players together.

I might just be interested in joining that scenario. Need to dust off my paintball gear, it hasn't been used this year yet.

Played some wikkid PB this weekend.
Invented a 'presidential escort' scenario, where you have to get one unarmed member of your team across the field, and into a safe zone, while the other team has to try kill him.
Also, the 'counterstrike' thing, where a bomb (a red rufftote box with a kitchen timer taped to the lid) is planted by the bad guys, and the good guys have to get to it, and remove the timer (read detonator). That turns out to be a mostly ambush firefight game. But great fun if we play it in the SWAT house.

With the right bunch of people, todays' paintball games are really cool.
Mike (Fly) and myself will be going through to Field 19 on the 22nd if you wanna join us, rainy... the more the merrier. It's quite the social gathering. Also, if you have any tech issues with your gear, these guys know their stuff, so they can help you set-up, repair, etc.
We're all grown-ups (30-somethings, to old farts like me), mostly have our own gear (sure, there are a few rentals... we try protect them as far as we can, so they don't get too badly hurt and never come back). Main issue is we generally chrono the markers to 300 for range and accuracy, so it can hurt. But big bruises add character.
TIP: If they say "Let's play Zombie", reply with "Hell , no!"

I shall endeavour to take some photos of my new toys, and post them here.

Let me check my gear this week, but I am pretty sure I'll make the 22nd.

My Angel is set to 300 (with Air), the old Spyder mainly worked on CO2 and I'll have to re-chrono it for use with air.

I don't have specific clothes, but I do have my mask, gloves and neck protector.

Aaah... a speed-baller.
TBH, cammo's are all fine and well in bush MilSim games, but avail you nothing in the speedball or SWAT house games.
I picked up a set of Marpat digi-cams at Kreature in Northgate, and scored a cammo tactical vest with my marker, but it's not really nec.
You can get 'netting' cammos pretty cheap at most PB outlets.
'Blades and Triggers' in Heathway Centre, and 'Paintball Fusion', near Cresta, I recommend. Good range, reasonable prices, and they know what they are talking about.

I was thinking of switching to CA for my marker, but not all fields can refill (Field 19 can) for you. Plus, we are hardly professional. It's more for fun, and inflicting pain on our friends (oh wait... that's covered under 'fun').

Yeah, there was a bunch of us who bought markers and started playing woodball for fun, then got into some amateurish speedball. The idea even was to form a team and start in the B division. Well, here we are, with not a single session played this year. So heck, I am all game. Traded the Angel from a coworker, I have an electronic hopper and a CA bottle.

I still have two CO2 bottles but then I'll have to use the Spyder. Which is fine enough for woodball anyway. I even have a 16" barrel for it...

That's just sad... get them to dust off their markers and come play.

Bring whatever you like. No one is going to complain.
And Julian (the one that owns the field, not me) has CA if you need refills. TBH, I'm quite keen to switch over to CA, as I believe it is more consistent and accurate than CO2, but am told that it runs out quick when it runs a cyclone too.
End of the day, being a noob, I expect to get pwned, which I do, but I'm getting better...

I had an Angel. A great marker, but I like my toys, and I wanted a MilSim 'replica' marker, so I sorta traded it in (I lost out from a market value perspective, but... pfffft. So what) on a Bravo One Tactical, and added some extra crap to it, for coolness (forward grip, red dot sight, Cyclone feeder, 16' sniper barrel, remote coil, etc.).
Gets pretty frikkin' expensive after a while.
To date, I estimate I've spent about R8k on markers, gear, and sponsoring... not bad for one month. :ffs: <--- my wife

Yes, CA is more consistent than CO2. The pressure is more constant and thus your grouping is tighter. You'll see it when you shoot over a chrono with CA as opposed to CO2, the muzzle speed will vary very little. Your accuracy still depends on your aim though ;) Most electronic markers require CA, as it is a compressed gas, as opposed to CO2 which is liquid and thus will fry the electronic innards (there are a few which will run on both). Changing between CO2 and CA frequently is not that advisable, as you'll have to re-chrono every time. I am not sure which way around it is, but one gives more speed than the other.

Do they have a chrono there? Otherwise I'll take my Spyder to the range this weekend and re-chrono it with air.
