First things first. Everyone needs to create themselves an account at www.mydigitallife.co.za. This account will be your presence in the DL world. From here you'll be able to create groups, make create blogs, and upload photo's and videos. Please, use your Gamer tag when registering, remember that the purpose of this is to grow our presence as a clan.
I've created two groups for us already. The first is an open group (meaning anyone can join), called GRRRoupies. Please join the group and be active within it (this will be our public face.
The second group is our pryfart space, called GRRRclan. Once again, please all join this.
Okay, if you've read Martin's latest email, you have seen that we have a fairly aggressive timeline for the launch of our new GRRR/DL brand. In preparation for this, I would like all of us to create some initial content that will be posted when the launch happens (not before please). This content must be geared to introducing us to the world, in terms of our membership, our history, and our future plans.
In terms of introducing us as individuals, I'd like to do this in the following way (please give input if you have a better idea!!):
I suggest that we each write a bio of ourselves, giving some personal demographic details (age, gender, location, profession, marital status, dependants etc.), gaming history, background, why you joined GRRR and hopefully a humorous anecdote or two. Also include a paragraph on 'your digital life' i.e. what gadgets you have and use, how you feel about technology in general, what gadgets you'd most like to have/invent etc.
Next is a section on your thoughts on the upcoming BC2. For those that haven't played the beta, stick to general ideas. For those that have, discuss your preferred role (armour, inf (by kit), pilot, attack, defense, loadout selections etc.) as well as your views on it's potential as a competitive title (compared with BF2/COD, the game modes, strategy etc.)
Finally, do a simliar piece for BF2. What was great about the game, how long you played it for, your greatest moments, funny stuff, role that you played etc.
This write-up on ourselves should take at least a page of writing (but of course please feel free to write more).
In order to put a different spin on each person, I'd also like each of us to write a paragraph on another clan member (we'll need to allocate a person to write about so that everyone is covered). This write up can of course be humorous, but we should avoid trashing each other (please note j0nny and Paul...). Talking about their skills in play, any personality quirks, fun stuff etc. This is to show that we are more than just a bunch of individuals, but rather an extended internt 'family'.
Okay, that should handle personal introducions. We will also need people to play editor (volunteers please - I'll help, and I expect j0nno to as well), helping those with lesser grammatical and spelling skills to create something that the common man will understand
A couple of other pieces that we will need shortly will be a detailled review of BC2, and a piece on the clan itself - from the beginning until now. I'd like volunteers to grab these two pieces.
There may be a desire to get some video interviews done (people who are in JHB) by the DL guys. I'd really like to have a few of us available for that. My initial thoughts would be Sheri (grrrl gamers), Phatso (energy, enthusiam and hawtness), and Paul (longstanding member and trained monkey). Of course this may not happen, but if it does (and I will push for it, I think it'll be pretty cool).
Also, I'd like to start digging out photos and video footage that we've accumulated over the years, so that we can sift through ti all and decide if thre is any stuff thatw e want to incorporate into our online presence.
Alright, that's enough for now. I'm late on a deadline, and really must do some work now. Please post thoughts, feedback etc. Also, if you are unable/unwilling to contribute as listed above, please let me know ASAP, so that I can factor it into our planning.
